I painted the kitchen ceiling this past weekend because I replaced some Sheetrock in a certain area. The area I sheetrocked came out fine but another area peeled a few hours later. The spot is about 8 inches by 3 inches. I had put 2 coats of fresh ceiling paint on with about a 2 hour wait between coats. I will let the paint dry a few more days to make sure it is completely dry but here is my question: After I scrape away any loose paint from the edges, should I use a little bit of joint compound to fill in that area and then paint or should I just sand the area and then only paint that spot again? If I use the compound will that area be a little higher after I apply the 2 coats of paint? Wow, that is a stumper then. I really have no other suggestions. Myself, I'd be leery of putting poly over it to hold it down, I'd be thinking the poly would lift up too, or crack and craze? Dunno. Had a similar experience recently. Freebie little lamp I got, perfect shape for a bedside but it was black and I wanted it cream. Did everything right and there was one tiny spot that the primer and paint just kept curling up and cracking off of and I just can not get it fixed. Guess you could always try the poly, if you can get the topcoat to cling long enough to apply it?

Amazing. The painter that painted the latex over oil without proper prep is obviously not a real painter so taking advice on how to remedy this from this guy is probably a bad idea. These days, it's not hard to paint over oil based paint with latex...all you need to do is sand it or clean it well before painting and use a decent product. It's guys like this that cause the general public to think that you can't paint over oil based paint with a latex. The purpose of PeelStop is to bridge areas that have peeled with areas that are still adhered. If your paint isn't stuck, it has to be removed. Putting any product over the top of paint that has failed isn't going to work.

I used dried lemon zest when I make Za'atar, which is used mainly on meat dishes. I think it's fine for use with meat but not with cookies. I freeze lemon rinds after I juice the lemons from my yard, and frozen peel works much better than dried. I think tangerine is perhaps closer to lemon than lime is. Lime is really quite different from lemon in flavor. The Meyer lemons that I have are somewhat similar to oranges because they are almost sweet. I haven't heard of putting lime zest in cookies, but I think any other citrus would be fine, including grapefruit. Lars
