In the beginning, I thought this thread was about making use of what could be made into something good, and getting rid of the rest. I didn't understand that the focus was on using pieces of a landscape somewhere, somehow. It seems to me that many existing "pieces" of the puzzle, if used, will only guaranty an undesirable outcome. There are many smallish, highly ornamental, cute pairs of plants (bougainvillia, topiary, pompoms, etc.) that beg to be used to flank a passageway. But there are not that many passageways that need flanking. There are plants in bad positions that need to be moved, but they are too big to move without a great deal of trouble or expense. Though there are many pictures attached to the thread, they are isolated shots that don't link areas. It's hard to develop a fluid concept of the site. Truth is, trying to make sense of the existing puzzle pieces would be an unpleasant job if I could be there doing it on site. And that would be much easier than trying to do it by remote. I think it was mentioned that it would be a good idea to return some items. I understand the difficulty and unpleasantness with that, but honestly, I think that is the best suggestion. What this situation really needs is a good designer who can make a personal visit, and a willingness of the owner to find another way to dispose of all the things that don't fit or that can't be made to fit without too much sacrifice. I believe the owner does want a finished product that's actually nice. But there only so much a person can squeeze in before the objects begin to work against him. It doesn't need more "objects" as much as it needs continuity and linking. This is not an attempt to say "I'm out." I'm just saying that the project is frustrating and I wish I could help you more, Relleum, but other than offering piecemeal advice, don't know if I can.

We use the Lodge Logic cast iron griddle on our large center gas burner on the Caldera 36" . You can't tell the difference at all from cooking a steak or fish or chicken outdoors and using this grill pan. It is so perfect. The only thing is that the taste is WAY better than outdoors if you use charcoal. If you have a gas grill they aren't as hot as the Caldera and so don't give as good a result. My son is a pro chef and he was astounded at the flavor of the meats that we do on the LL pan and the smoky taste is amazing.Way more tender and flavorful and no mess at all if you have a good hood ( see below) If you look at the cost of the grill pan and then see the grill on the stove that is built in and also think of not being able to then have the burners to use for other cooking , then it makes way more sense to have the LL than a built in. As to vents . You need to get more CFM than you need. I have 1400 for that reason. The laws of physics come into play and the turbulence in the duct -work when you use it on high sends the HOGS back at you ( heat,odors,grease,steam) . So you need to have more than you think you will need...allow for height of hood and width ( do not have to have wider than cook surface ) but allow for this in extra cfm and length of duct run. I think that covers it. You have to think of your venting WAY before you look at the cook top...at the very least at the same time. Do not get a grill and then never use it due to the stink. He asked me to look at his and let him know any changes or plants I wanted to include so I really appreciate your help and input. I like the bright and tight laurel variety and the camellias too. I’m not a fan of the mugo pines, or knockout roses. I have heard they have a disease that is really a problem. I definitely agree that the sizing and scale makes all the difference in the presentation, so thanks so much. Can’t wait to visit the nursery and see what we end up with on this project.

Same question: do you own it/rent it?own it but rent it to others? What pieces of furniture absolutely must stay? what can go? how you use the white bench/shelf to the right of the small fridge? Is it for future TV set, or..? What would you add to increase daily function? do you need a small dining space, or coffee table functions fine? I'd also put fridge as close to the kitchen nook as possible-where the trash can currently is. What's your style? You need to connect your pieces more. Can be done but we need to know your preferences. What's your favorite thing in the room? what's your least favorite? Rugs, plants, sometimes bookshelves can help delineate zones without dissecting the room too much. Less pieces but bigger ones, in terms of storage, are better than many small ones lined against the walls. Case goods can be found inexpensively second-hand..it's just more hassle. Art seems to be hung a bit too high..if the vanity/dresser stay I'd be inclined to put the gallery much lower so it relates to the dresser. Unless you want to go with completely differnt art, and rearrange the gallery in a different spot-but then also should be lower a bit. In short, we need more info from you, if possible.
