Are some colors 'all different' and others 'all the same?'
Comments (4)Not all whites are the same, nor are all reds. In my backyard I've aimed to have a white garden, but some of the flowers are more ivory/cream while others are white-white (more of a stark contrast). But that doesn't bother me, but if you were trying to go with the house trim or something, this might influence your decision. I got Ruby Vigorosa roses for my front yard thinking they were going to be red-red, veering toward the orangy red. Well, with the heat those suckers are dark pink (and in lots of heat, actually fade to pale pink). But in winter they're such a dark-dark pink that they go for pale red. Sometimes it really is better to see a rose in your local environment then having to trust pictures and people on the phone to describe a color. Just my two cents....See MoreTwo New FFOS and Some Repeats
Comments (11)Yes, Snowflake Empress always has perfect flowers. It is not so ornate as Victorian Lace, but a sturdy and reliable plant. I too got Part-Time Princess as a bonus and am glad that it has bloomed well; haven't seen mine yet. Comments (15)Well Mantis, even the greenery was gone...I just accepted that it was not going to thrive, took up the label and forgot it..then here, three years later it puts up four scapes and starts blooming. We will see if it continues. When bought Shake the Mountain from CT daylilies, Chris was concerned that it was tiny and would not survive. obviously it did and it thrived. I moved it to a better place last year and it really seems to be happy....We will see. Abilene is doing well. It has pretty colors but is not my favorite, probably because the bloom is fairly small. Thank you Julia I posted a tiny fraction of them since most people don't have them blooming yet. and I don't want to wear everyone out. kay....See MoreSome FFE's, Multiples and Clumps
Comments (12)Mantis - I've had Princess Diary for four bloom seasons now. It is an evergreen, so I don't know how it would do farther north. It's never been the registered 30 inches tall here. I usually get scapes that are 26-28 inches tall. It multiplies OK. adding a couple of fans every year. It certainly has never had anything near the registered bud count here. Bud count is usually 12-13 per scape, maybe higher last year. I think it's rebloomed twice in the years I've had it. Julia - Judy's Jewel is top budded, but I wouldn't call it heavy. Kate - Return to Camelot is still on the possible cut list. It was looking brown by afternoon today when the high temp was 88. Maryl - I'm glad you like Porterhouse. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I prefer the look in the first shot. Kay - Thanks for your comments. You seem to like them all! Debra...See Moreorganic_kitten
