Are some colors 'all different' and others 'all the same?'
Comments (4)Not all whites are the same, nor are all reds. In my backyard I've aimed to have a white garden, but some of the flowers are more ivory/cream while others are white-white (more of a stark contrast). But that doesn't bother me, but if you were trying to go with the house trim or something, this might influence your decision. I got Ruby Vigorosa roses for my front yard thinking they were going to be red-red, veering toward the orangy red. Well, with the heat those suckers are dark pink (and in lots of heat, actually fade to pale pink). But in winter they're such a dark-dark pink that they go for pale red. Sometimes it really is better to see a rose in your local environment then having to trust pictures and people on the phone to describe a color. Just my two cents....See MoreTwo New FFOS and Some Repeats
Comments (11)Yes, Snowflake Empress always has perfect flowers. It is not so ornate as Victorian Lace, but a sturdy and reliable plant. I too got Part-Time Princess as a bonus and am glad that it has bloomed well; haven't seen mine yet. (Judy seems to like these girlie names--Pink High Heels, Part-Time Princess.)...See MoreSome August ffo's and reblooms
Comments (8)Wish I knew what they were thinkin' when they name these daylilies, Juicy Bubble Butt? I like the teeth, need to look up the hybridizers picture I guess, yours looks nice. Your Billy the Kid is starting off nicely, mine was ok the first bloom, but got better with each bloom. Maybe it needed warmer temps to really get the look, but I really like it. I don't know how it will do when it is established, but every flower looked different, which I liked. How great to have such a nice clump like Tiffany Shade blooming now....See MoreOne FFO, One FFE and Rebloomers
Comments (12)Maryl, glad you like these, feel fortunate to have so many good ones this very unusual year--wish we could always have them like this. Sherry, ELE is so cute--I love triangular eye zones and green throats. Debra, the color of Tender Love almost mirrors that of Small World Snow Owl, so I have the "big one" and the "small one"-lucky, lucky. Glad to hear WDS has produced a rebloom scape for you. I bought Dragonfly Dawn to use for crosses and so far I have seeds with Katherine Caldwell as pod parent and Moon Over Monterey as pod parent. Let's hope for daylilies with great patterns. Mantis, Lillian's Thin Ice in its second year is coming on strong, it's great to get a daylily that produces right out of the gate. Dragonfly Dawn scapes are probably around 30" here, not the listed 36""--I can hope it gets taller the longer it grows here. Katherine Caldwell is another one that got right to it last year when we planted it, and in the second year has really done wonderfully well. It is a semi-evergreen and a strong grower, so maybe it would work for you. Nat, good choice for favorites, they are lovely daylilies and good growers, and that is important. Not all lovely DLS are good growers....See Moreorganic_kitten
