Help decorate our guest bedroom! pics
Comments (22)we have not attached it yet--- we need to look at the bed frame to see if its able to attach -otherwise we will get the appropriate frame- DH does not want to attach to wall-- its pretty sturdy even though its not attached.... HTN-- i hear you about transitional-- i kind of felt like i was liking that style but yes the rest of our house is traditional-- i'm keeping the headboard- so i'll see what else i come up with... I also think the bed needs an ivory throw blanket and a nice bench (thats lighter by the foot of the bed)... to be continued...See MoreDesigning and decorating our bunk room (photo heavy)
Comments (21)I have a similar room, built for exactly the same use, but on a smaller scale. Your wall on the right side (with bed headboard leaning against it) looks as if it would be perfect for a couple of built-in beds. I built ours so that they can be easily used for closets, if the room is used as a bedroom, and also for resale--in that case there will be existing closets (albeit short, under-eaves closets), a requirement for listing it as a bedroom. The decks can be removed, leaving more room for hanging clothes, on the ends, and curtains can hide contents--the curtain rods are already in place in these pics. The other bed, before shutters were added: The room is considerably less cute/girlie now, because my DD and her new husband have moved in (I'm happy I planned ahead for this possibility), jettisoning all of my cottage decor. The beds are his and hers closets. Adding a pic of the other side, the full-size bed. Also adding, I think if my children were still small, I'd prefer the bed closest to the door, so that if they were sent to bed first, I wouldn't need to walk by their beds when I entered. And if they left the room during the night, they'd need to walk by my bed--I'd want to know why they were up. I like AnnieDeighnaugh's idea of curtains for privacy. This would be a great room for slumber parties. With a queen-size sofa-sleeper, I can see space for up to 10 kids. I deleted most of my saved pics, but I always loved the colors in this one: And the style of these built-ins:...See MorePlease help me put together our living room!
Comments (67)I've been playing with the SW color visualizer tool and came up with a ton of different schemes, but this one is pointing me toward an overall house palette that I really like. It's very "beigey", it isn't at all trendy, but it's very warm, looks a lot like the clothes in my closet - jeans and earthy tops :) - and just might work. If I want to spice it up, I think I can add or swap a gray such as amazing gray or intellectual gray into the mix to bring it into the 21st century. (There's a good amount of gray in the fabric already.) I know that the colors that the app generates aren't exact, but it's a good road map. Comments (21)Pleasant room. Like the large windows and all that natural light. Like the coffee table. As for art for the walls, including for the space above the fireplace, don't just rush to put something/anything up to cover a bare spot. Take your time and find something that reflects your personal interests. Found this: http://eco2017.info/art-above-fireplace/art-above-fireplace-above-fireplace-decor-fireplace-wall-decor-above-fireplace-mantel-large-wall-decor-above-decorative-fireplace-logs-above-fireplace-fireplace-clipart-black-and-white/ You might consider going bold for a mantel: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/207728601543366287/?lp=true Not a great fan of your floor lamp styles, both are likely to produce glare … though a different bulb might help. Like this: http://adventurousmom.me/floor-lamp-and-table-combination/excellent-idea-floor-lamp-and-table-combination-combo-fresh-furniture/ You should at least consider end tables with tall thin lamps with white shades. You could even use upscale wood two drawer filing cabinets as end tables and have them do double duty -- or the three drawer (a shallow top drawer) -- and many have locks to discourage snooping guests from seeing personal items or all those paid bills you're saving for your tax records. The deep file drawers can also store photo albums and/or hats and/or purses -- things other than files -- so they make good bedside tables as well. Note: I truly loathe the drapes-sloppily-dragging-the-floor fad. Consider raising them so the hems are less than an inch above the floor....See MoreBeth H. :
