I've installed quite a few squares of elk timberlines and what I like about them is, that compared to a three tab shingle, the elks have a better adhesion strip at the leading edge of the shingle that keeps them down in high winds. They are also heavier than three tabs. I cant speak for owens corning architectuals. I dont think you can go by mfgr's claims concerning longevity, in this case 30 years, as it is dependent on location and the weather extremes. The main concern is that you have a reputable installer that will do a competent install concerning underlayments, flashings, as well as the shingles themselves and will warrant their install in writing coinciding with the mfgr's warranty on the shingles.

we have driftwood, but i'm not sure if it's owens or certainteed. i'm think it's owens. either way, it's a pretty roof. thanks everyone. I am just worried about Summer Haravest I don't want to feel like I am living in a fun house...But I do love it! I think I might just going basic shades of brown/tan. Boring for me but in the 3d new look I think it will BLEND into my house rather than making the roof the first thing you see...thanks again.

It's our house in both photos with different weather! Cloudy days you see more of the green. With the wrong shingle we might see more green all the time! Thank you!
