We have the GE 30" Profile, with the ss frame. Purchased in summer 2008. At the time, the specs were exactly the same between the profile and the monogram, and the profile was a few hundred less (via the induction site). We did think the stainless/mirrored monogram looked really cool, but the black controls on it were funny looking, so decided to stick to all black. Got the framed version because we were worried about cracking an exposed glass corner without it. Performance is excellent. The large burder is quite large and very powerful. Overall, great control, great power and a good price. Cleaning up is easy and no noticeable scratches or other issues after 9 months. Only small quibbles--it does hum (not enough to bother us, but usually it is noticeable), more so with some cookware than others. Wish the larger burner were centered so as to provide better capture of smoke when stir-frying (we have it in a peninsula). Clearance requirements underneath are high--meant we used pullout shelves instead of more efficient drawers under it. On balance, happy and would recommend.

Mine are 2004 vintage. Love the 6 burner gas range as every burner has high btu and good simmer. Flipping a grate for wok is cool. The grates on the newer models feel flimsier. The oven is okay, it has three racks, but they are too close together, wound up taking one out. Temperature control and distribution are fine. DW is good. Very quiet, cleans well, cycle takes a long time on the air dry phase, and there is no way to turn it off. Refrigerator over under- no issues except hard to keep freezer drawer organized. MW - no issues. Hood- no issues. They all look Beautiful and have required no repairs.

Dual evaporators prevent mixing the air from the freezer and refrigerators. This prevents transferring odors and even taste. This can't be done with a single evaporator. Dual compressors give you redundancy. It is highly unlikely both will break at the same time so you will have at least a refrigerator or freezer. Dual compressor systems have a performance and efficiency advantage over one single speed compressor refrigerators. A variable speed compressor has a small efficiency advantage over dual compressor refrigerators. It is debatable which if either has a performance advantage. A year ago all Monogram refrigerators had the ClimateKeeper2 system. Dual evaporators plus one single speed compressor. It seems they no longer give the specification on compressors and evaporators. Having said all that GE does not have a good reputation when it comes to refrigeration. They announced some major changes to their freestanding refrigerators including bringing back some manufacturing to the US. I have not heard of them making changes to their built-in line. If you are not getting a big discount, on the magnitude of 40% or more I would look elsewhere. This is a long term investment. If something major fails within 12 years most people replace a freestanding fridge. Most people will repair the built-in unit. And keep repairing if something else fails. So you are entering into an expensive long term relationship with your built-in fridge :)

Thanks. I am not all that worried about it, but I wanted to see if there was anyone who already had both in place so I could get some feedback. Actually, it wasn't until the person I called at GE made it sound like there was a noticeable and appreciable difference that I became concerned! My cooktop is mostly black with a stainless rim, and my dishwasher is ss, but none of those things are close together, or close to the wall oven or fridge, so I was not that worried. I'll probably still go with both the Profile and the Monogram. Thanks again...
