Two 'At Last' Roses -- two different colors this year

This is year three for these two At Last roses., although I did transplant them to the current spot April 2021. Last year and the year before, both were apricot. They are close together and have had same watering and fertilizer/general treatment. One of them has white flowers this year, with just the barest blush of color in the center. They have been white from the start of the season through hot days and cooler days. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Never heard of an entire rose bush changing bloom colors like that...WOW!

I assume its own root rose?

Can't wait to hear explanations on this crazy happening...

Yes they are own root. The white one looks like gardenia blossoms. It is pretty pronounced difference in color. Definitely both were same color last year. Wild!

Hi Sherry, grocery bag paper should be fine, but might want to have at least two layers as the goo does penetrate the paper to some degree over the season. Out of laziness I use the stuff sold by Tanglefoot. It comes in rolls about the size of a salad plate, the band is 1 1/2" to 2" wide, and is a little crinkled in texture. On a single-cane rose that was having ant/aphid problems, I used foil instead. On trees I use twine to tie fast the paper to the trunk. With the foil on the small rose cane all I needed to do was to squeeze firmly in order to secure it. No, no pictures really yet. The weeds are mostly taller than the trees, but I'll see what I can do about a picture. At the other shared orchard site planted in 2003, I'm a bit disappointed that 2/3 of them are still freezing down to the ground over the winter. But the 1/3 or so that don't are starting to look pretty good. After looking at them last weekend I think we'll get a nice crop this season (mostly Hardy Chicago and Celeste).

Below is my dual monitor set-up at work. My two monitors are different sizes and brands but that doesn't make any difference to how I use them. The monitor on the left is my main workspace monitor, while the one on the right is primarily used to place menus, iChat windows, post-it notes, etc. You can see a slight color difference which could be improved if I wanted to spend the time and energy to fix it with color profiles. On this second close-up photo you can see how the spread works a little better. The headline for this posts reads: Do you use two monitors (at on the left monitor and the same time)? on the right. Dazzle, this is an excellent forum, the people here are very, very helpful. We are in a similar predicament, with nearly 5 years of looking. This length of time was due to us being too picky, too restrictive... The "dream home" does not exist, even close does not exist...We found some rather nice ones, but these were quickly taken, I was too cautious and slow......my very bad! Take the place that puts a smile on your face.. Children need space, a compact development place is less expensive for a good reason!.. Funny thing for us, the place with room, out in the country is less expensive than the compact property in a development. I've recommended that my wife read this thread and this forum...its a revelation... As to the trim, please do NOT paint - this will ruin it! Honey oak is timeless

* In this case, the 2 "Color numbers" are meaningless. There are a bunch of BM Colors in the "Off-Whites Collection" (OC-32, etc....) that are also in the Main-panel on the 6' side of the rack. * Different Color #'s.....same formula. * When I'm using our BM Software, I just pick the # that matches the chip they bring to me! * Regarding the color difference, could be one or more of the Colorants is sliding out of Calibration, or.....a small portion didn't "drop". * Depending on the Tinting-equipment, "Bellows-driven" machines are a teeny bit more prone to fractional shots just not "dropping". * My new (last year!) $20,000 COROB Tinter has 2 "Transmissions", Pumps, Valves, recirculation & return lines, etc. Extremely accurate, but once in a blue moon.....a teensy shot of Colorant is sometimes a "Miss". * So.......on real light colors/small cans, I watch to make sure everything "drops"! Do they experience much dieback? It could be the 1 died back and what grew back sported to a white color. It's very pretty especially together.

It's even more beautiful than the peach version. The flower forms and the leaves look identical to me, which makes me think it's a sport and not a rootstock reversion. Beautiful!!

I planted one of those this year. The blooms are nice, but they fall apart really easily.

If it's a sport, it may be worthwhile to grow some new plants from cuttings. Maybe if they root well, you could contact the hybridizer and see if there's any interest. Although the chances you had something happen that the hybridizer hasn't seen is probably slim to none.

A sport does make the most sense. I always thought of sports as being a single branch, standing out from the plant. But honestly I have not seen sports before. Thanks all!

If At Last is under patent, can I propagate a sport?

@Iowa Blooms z 5 a sport should be considered a completely different variety so if it is a stable sport it is YOURS =). You can do whatever you want with it. I absolutely love a white rose, how nice.

That is why I asked if you got much die back. It could be The whole new growth sported From the roots. Normally a rose will only sport a cane at a time.
