You can do a large rug that leaves a small border all around the room or put some small runners on either side of the bed or no rug since you have a lot of furniture in the room.

Can you get rid of either the dresser or small chest, to give the room a bit more breathing space?

@Angel 18432 Here's the room. It's a WIP, lol. I wanted to get some general guidelines on area rugs so I can get it ordered in time to have the room finished for some guests in September. Everything has such a long lead time between the drywall and the flooring repair, I'll be lucky to make my deadline.

If it's a guest room I would just put two small rugs on either side of the bed. Probably 3 X 5s would do it. There isn't a lot of floor area and there's no sense in paying a lot of money for something that is going to be mostly covered.

Is the floor finished?

@Angel 18432 As much as I don't want to do it, the floors are going to be LVP. It's the lowest level of a split level which is on a concrete slab. Not a lot of options other than tile or LVP.

Well for sure you will need a larger rug, not runners to warm up the area. For the ceiling, you could by some painter's drop cloths. They are fairly cheap and large and staple to the ceiling to stop bits of wood/crap from dropping down. Sheets could work too, but are generally more expensive. Or just spray paint it all white.

I like big rugs that leave a foot or two all around.

Runners will cover more …nicer on bare feet… LVP… hopefully can be linear with bed direction

There's a lot going on in the room so I've selected a sisal/wool piece Stanton Barbados, to add some texture but no more print or color.

Nice, sometimes simple is better, you can always add color and change it up when you get tired of a color.

Why not just leave it? I love my LVP throughout my Florida home. I only have one rug in the living room, primarily for decor.

It is comfortable and not cold on the feet.
