Comments (4)Jezek was discovered in 1984, 27 years ago. But Sam, we see only nursery plants at age of 1-2 years. Brooms have their lives too, and they cant live till centuries, as healthy specieses. The son of Mr. Kostelnicek told me, that these gnoms cant live over 40 years, as he expects. Maybe, we must wait. Anyway, genetically they are surely defected plants. We have no good knowledge about the theme, just enjoying the dwarf beauties. I asked many broom hunters about the theme, no one had any idea, what happens. Virus, defect in the bud, any rays - these are only questions. Zsolt...See Moreconifer survived ice age

Comments (33)G'Day monkeytreeboy, I have over 200 seedlings of Araucaria araucana, so I think I might be in love with them too LOL G'Day Jaro Certainly those species depicted in the wild are present in the gardens as well as an exemplary selection of both Northern and Southern Hemisphere conifers, too many to list. There are numerous places to visit within easy access of Hobart (Tasmania's capital) and in particular Mt Field National Park which is only an hour from the city. Over 30% of Tasmania's flora is endemic and of the 11 conifers present here, 9 species are endemic. Unlike many European countries, the diversity in our flora increases with altitude. There are too many places of interest to mention but if you are ever over this way I will certainly be happy to show you around. G'Day Sluice, thank you, thats no problems! Cheers Tasmanii...See MoreBIG conifers
Comments (20)Nice trip Will! Good pictures too. I wish I could have gone along with you. I have seen the Redwoods along the coast and the Sequoiadendrons at the Calaveras groves, both north and south. East of Fresno, Ca. It was a lasting experience. Someday maybe I will visit Kings Canyon National Park and see The General Sherman. Mike...with 15 Giant Sequoias, plus two Weepers, and 7 Coast Redwoods....See Morebengz6westmd
