Probably not. Copper pipes will last for 50 years at least unless you have a water chemistry issue. That patina on the outside is fine.

I've seen copper that is oxidized that dates back to 1871 (that did finally need a bit of rehab...) but was mostly intact. Your pipes are fine.

While it might not be necessary to replace, why not do it while the wall is open and avoid any potential issues in the future.

My dry wall had to be replaced because of a leak from an upstairs neighbor and when the pipes in that area were exposed, they looked old and who knows how much longer they would last without causing issues so my building chose to replace the pipes even though they weren't leaking. They were the original pipes from 1965 when it was bulit.

Assuming that happened recently, your pipes were 55 years old. That was probably the correct decision.

This plumbing is probably 10 years old. Unless there's a known problem with water chemistry, they are good for another 50 years at least.

Big difference between sheet copper and a small copper pipe that is under pressure with water and minerals that can build on burrs and such. I've replaced many a 1960s-2000s copper pipe in many houses, and the ones that had deteriorated were all oxidized. This situation has more oxidation on it than I've seen in any of my houses. There must of been a leaking shower valve or something in that stud bay above it at one time.

It confirmed what I thought. I decided to error on the side of cautious and since the walls were opened to have the whole area
