Here is the color of my front door, on a house that is much the same as yours. My stone is bedford so is irregular, and my roof is black and railings are all black, I like this rusty red a lot. I would never remove my storm door. I use it all the time. I dislike not having doors open both for ventilation, but also to view outside.

FYI Romabio is good at what they do ... no argument here.... but they have a limited range of only whites & very light grays and it cannot be applied to anything with conventional house paint on it, only raw unpainted masonry or other mineral paint applications. There are several other mineral paint (aka potassium silicate) paint co's in the US, a couple of which have a sort of "primer" product which can go over conventional paint - try this is one : https://www.beeckmineralpaints.com/ For best results though I think Id still want to get off as much of the paint film as possible .... but without going too far and damaging the brick. Then the primer product, and then the mineral paint. Of course this would be hugely labor intensive or expensive to hire out, that is assuming you can even find anyone who has heard of mineral paint or would want to do it. At the very least find a person who understands the science about this and doesnt shrug off the concerns - maybe there are some other types of breathable coatings that I dont know about. Michelle above is correct - any coatings need to be breathable, or there WILL be damage, its only a matter of time. The brick bldg across the street from me was painted only 12 yrs ago and is already spalling (ie brick cracking and disintegrating) terribly in some places near bldg exhaust vent and other places Its really sad how the big box, do it cheap mentality of the last 30-40 yrs has resulted in so much shoddy workmanship that is now considered the norm.... and actual physical damage. Not many people thinking long term any more, beyond 10 or 20 yrs.

Hi - BM Gray Gardens belongs to the Green-Yellow Hue Family, very close to the Green Hue Family. In balanced lighting, many see near neutral colours from this Hue Family neighbourhood as ‘just grey’. But in certain situations, it may be possible to flashes of their inherent greenness. (Which is what you are spotting in other samples you have tried.) Note also, that in some imbalanced light settings, low Chroma near neutrals, from this bottom right quadrant of the Color wheel can shift blue-ish. They aren’t blue and don’t have blue undertones, it’s an effect of light upon the colour. The nearest match for Gray Gardens in another Benjamin Moore colour, is HC-167 Amherst Gray. But it’s still not super close. It is from the same Hue Family but sits anticlockwise, to Gray Gardens, near the beginning of the Yellow-Green Hue Family. It is almost the same Value (lightness,) but is that bit more colourful than Gray Gardens. Worth a look.

Thanks all! I now have a massive collection of paint chips and am no further along toward a decision! I'm not sure if the online mockups are all that helpful - when I find images of exteriors with the various paint options, they seem to look very different than the chips or the online mockups. For example, the mock-up and the paint chip makes SW Iron Ore seem very dark - almost black - but this old thread from Houzz shows it painted on a house that looks blue-grey to me. I'll probably try testing some samples once they get the siding up. The problem for me is narrowing it down to 3 or 4 options. I have trouble making decisions in general and this reno has forced me to make about a billion so far. @debvanatl I like Witching Hour as well but a few photos make it look a little "brighter" than I think our little house can bear. @celerygirl I started out wanting just a darker version of our existing color but now I'm tipping over into blue. Still want to keep it dark and grey-toned though. @Tiny J your house is beautiful! Charcoal gray is now in contention. @littlebug zone 5 Missouri & @PPF new gutters and a new portico are part of the plan. And the new windows will be double-hung 6/1, at least a foot taller than the existing windows.
