Here are some evening photos of my white oak select grade hardwood, site installed, with one coat of Bona Natural seal and two coats of Bona Traffic HD Matte. It’s a lot lighter IRL than in the photos. I agonized over what sealer to use (bought different stains, Loba 2k, all sorts of products). This combination seemed to look the closest to the natural wood (which I LOVED). The sealer did make it a tiny bit darker but it’s ok. I also included a photo of my stairs. They are red oak. It was a fortune to replace the stairs so we kept the red oak and used one coat of wheathered oak stain and two coats of Bona HD traffic extra matte (same as on the floors). Two lessons learned: Use a third coat of Bona HD traffic in high-traffic areas (our first floor gets a ton of wear with a dog and three teenagers, a third coat would have added an extra layer of protection against scratches). If you are a sheen person and like gleaming wood floors, do not use matte, use a satin finish. I had satin in my other house and I do miss the shine of a freshly washed wood floor. Although a matte does do a great job of hiding scratches. We installed white oak throughout the house (with the exception of the stairs) and even in the kitchen. I love wood floors in the kitchen - easier on the feet, knees, and not cold like a tile floor.

Bona's sealers have a color bar on their label. Classic seal is their latex sealer, which is the middle of the five sealers. This is considered their neutral clear, it does add color. https://www.bona.com/en-US/Bona-Professional/Products/Coatings/Waterborne-Finishes-and-Sealers/ClassicSeal/ Classic seal is there worst sealer. It contains latex, which makes it the most difficult to repair. Classic seal will not bond to classic seal. It is not a building sealer, which is an issue with repairs. You will need to refinish individual boards for repairs or a full redo.

So they came this morning to fix the floors. The owner of the company told our contractor he had the Bona training but the crew he sent today were the same three people we’ve had the whole time and the head guy said he has not had the bona training. He also told my husband they used 1.5 gallons of the traffic hd. For 1462 sq ft. Good grief. I think they should have used 3.5 gallons. From what we can see so far, it’s not improved. They buffed it three times and the floor looked awful after that - I’ll attach a pic. But he assured my husband it would look ok after the poly applied. So frustrated! Guess we’ll see tomorrow how it looks. They did buy a new roller. They did not ask us to turn the a/c off but my husband did. Pic attached is after buffing.

At some point you will, but I still see some surface texture in your pics. This is a reason why I don't encourage people who want a bunch of coatswhen new, presumably for durability. I could understand on a commercial floor, but for most of my residential clients, when the floor gets scratched and and dingy, they want a recoat to bring it back up to par. I once had a client where we recoated her natural color floor with oil poly, giving it 4 coats total. A housekeeper walked on it, requiring coat #5. The gate guards were instructed that nobody enter and the key was put aside, yet another housekeeper with their own key went in before dry, requiring coat #6,which was a success. When the owner saw how smooth the floor was she contracted us to refinish the floor after season ended, because it looked like a sheet of plastic.
