Edge pull on paneled dishwasher?

Can it be done? Does anybody regret that choice?

How big is the edge pull. Do you have a picture?

I haven’t picked out yet, but probably around 8 inches large (1/3 of 24 inch panel).

I wondered about this myself and ended up going with about a 6" cup pull from Restoration Hardware that matches my other 4" cup pulls around the room. I think it looks right and I think I like having a little more grasping room on the DW as it takes a little oomph to pull it open.

There are adjustment screws for the door panel located in the front, by the feet (look at the install manual). You can temporarily loosen the tension, and then tighten again when the panel is applied. It should be in your install kit. Otherwise, as Whit461 points out, it will not stay down properly. You can probably just use some colored plastic with velcro strips if the grey color disturbs you, or you can order a stainless panel from Bosch (their web site sells parts and accessories directly).

I have the same issue, Becky. What size did you wind up using and do you feel it is the right size? @stuartcas, I went with the 8-13/16" pull. I think it is the perfect size relative to the dishwasher panel and it holds a dish towel nicely. My dishwasher is next to a farm sink, so I'd really regret it if I'd gone for the smaller one since that is the only place to hang a towel near that sink. Had I gone any bigger, I think it would look odd in my kitchen. A longer one might look nice in a modern kitchen though.

The pull is not installed correctly. A custom panel must sit flush against the dishwasher door. The top, inside edge of the panel should have been routed so the edge pull would not cause the gap between the panel and the dishwasher door. If a handle is to be used, screws used to attach the custom panel to the dishwasher door must be countersunk. If you search "appliance pull", you'll never see an edge pull in the results. It may require too much force to open the door. I'd use a conventional appliance pull...or a dishwasher with a stainless steel door.

I want to say that my handle for my paneled dishwasher is 18” , i wouldnt go smaller w a finger pull. I watched the cabinet people as they installed a panel onto a thermador D/W and the mounting seems pretty sturdy, so I think a finger pull would be ok. I would give a call to the manufacturer for a better idea for your particular DW and its panel mounting system.

ETA for anyone who is getting a Thermador panel ready sapphire dishwasher installed that has push to open, a finger pull would probably be a better choice than a traditional handle. Every time I lean against the dishwasher, it opens, whether its running or not. Can be a deal breaker for some.
