Master bathroom addition. Which plan would you choose?
Comments (6)I would switch the closet and shower in plan 2. That way the closet is close to the bedroom and you don't have to go all the way through the bathroom to get there. It would be opposite the vanity. It would also have the shower plumbing closer to the tub so that might be a tiny bit easier/cheaper? I don't think a toilet room is necessary. Possibly if you are sharing the bathroom with children or other household members. But if it's your master bathroom I feel like it's a nice to have not a need to have. We also repurposed an unused bedroom for a master closet and I have no regrets....See MoreHelp with Master suite & guest bathroom layout
Comments (3)IMO, the master bathroom is too small. 30" for a toilet (the minimum allowed) and 30" a vanity is tight even for a guest bath. Your closet is huge proportionally. I would take at least 2 feet from the closet to add to the toilet and vanity space (48" vanity and a 36" space for the toilet) because I would much rather be cramped in a closet than feel cramped in the bathroom. You could also take a few inches from the shower. 5' 34" showers are very common and plenty of room if you are not a large person....See Moremaster closet in master bathroom yes or no and why?
Comments (86)I much prefer the closet off the bath and easy access from the closet to the laundry. Ours is a walk though closet approx 15' x 7' 6". Doors opposite each other giving DH a space of a bit more than 5' x 7'6" and I have about 7' x 7' 6" on my end, so basically two decent sized, but not overly large walk in closets sharing a 3' walk through between the bath and my office (but steps from laundry). DH slept in this morning. I showered and got ready for the day, put up laundry, and dried a load of towels and put them up all without disturbing DH. During the day, I most frequently access the closet and master bath from my office. Very convenient....See More***How would you layout this Master Bathroom??***
Comments (4)For whatever it's worth, I'd slide the tub, window, and vanity closer to the shower (smaller vanity), then move the toilet to the upper right-hand corner (facing down), sans water closet. Then I'd use the entire wall by the closet as storage and/or vanity (primping) space and/or laundry (folding? ironing? hamper?) space. An inaccurate picture (give the tub more room and center it with the window): But I don't like water closets, and I prefer as much separation between the bathroom and closet as possible. This would put all the "bathroom" items at the top and all the "closet/storage" related items on the bottom. If my math is right, you would still have plenty of space for a freestanding tub and a decent sized double vanity....See MoreKarenseb
