I am just a lay person and know nothing about this stuff other than what I had to figure out for my journey. The Miele manual says on p. 60 "Flush installation is only possible in natural-stone (granite, marble), solidwood, and tiled countertops. Certain cooktops are suitable for building into glass countertops – these are labeled accordingly. When using a countertop made from any other material, please check first with the countertop manufacturer that it is suitable for installing a flush cooktop." So you might want to call Infinity to discuss if a flush mount is possible. Your fabricator may just be wanting to be ultra cautious, so you could get some other opinions. No sure what you mean by "drop in". The manual uses 3 different terms: "flush", "framed" (p. 58), and "proud". It's very confusing. But after some research, it appears the 6365/6375 must only be installed flush (as confirmed on p. 4/8 here: http://documents.designerappliances.com/Specification-Sheet-KM6365.pdf). This makes sense, because I was trying to picture a 6365/6375 mounted as "proud" and it certainly would not look nice and definitely prone to damage. In other words, if you cannot do flush, then you must get a 6360/6370/6377 to mount either framed or proud (I suppose this just means same installation as a typical framed unit, just minus the actual frame). I'm not sure what you mean by 'flush mount' so I'm assuming you mean frameless as in a 36" Wolf. I'm no expert but I recently GC'd my own kitchen and did a little research on this subject to check out the installer. Fortunately he was excellent and confirmed my assumptions. I have a Gagg but I took a quick look at the Wolf installation instructions and the process looks the same. I can't imagine what would take 2 hours unless he was installing the electrical box for the unit as well. Basically, the unit just sits in the 5/16" recess your counter top man routed out and the wires are connected. There is a foam strip that glues to the underside of the glass all the way around the edge to provide a cushion. After installation, the foam compresses and the unit sinks to be flush with the surface. If a silicone seal is to be applied, (makes for easier cleaning/ harder servicing) It is best to wait a couple of weeks until the settling is finished. If not the silicone can pull away or bubble up. Two things to check, one is that the glass sinks to at least the level of the top otherwise a pan or something sliding can hit the edge and chip or crack the glass. The second is to choose the silicone colour. Black usually looks best to match the glass IMHO but you can use a colour to match the countertop particularily if the top is light and the cut edge is a bit ragged. Hope that helps.

trove: My Miele odor comment was intended as a zinger directed at Miele due to various complaints on this forum about dishwasher odor (probably not confined just to Miele). Some who have looked into this in depth have recently blamed it on humidity acting on microscopic food particles not flushed by the dishwashing process, and on dirty liquid in the dishwasher plumbing left over after operation. I know I have had odor problems at times with my Optima, but due to onset of winter have to wait until summer to try to verify whether either cause of blame is consistent with my observations. Miele has to conform to European laws relating to energy efficiency, and this also affects water usage. It may be that old style American dishwashers remained more sanitary in humid conditions after their drying cycle. I don't recall odor from childhood dishwashers, but I think my family's dishwasher was run more often than my Miele. kas

Shon, I checked this afternoon when I cooked - really, the surrounding quartz countertop remained pretty cool even I used the burners on the sides. I have never tried to use a grill plate or griddle on the stove though.... just not my style of cooking. But let me tell you - if the centre burner is good enough for a wok (I use a cast iron one with high heat!) it should work for a grill plate. There are some cooktops or professional drop in range tops that have the highest heat burners on the side, but this one has the most powerful one in the centre, which makes sense to me. I was tempted to get the Wolf range top before, for that "pro" look, but then I gave up after knowing the requirements for ventilation. I cannot be happier with my Contemporary Cooktop, because I have enough heat (or more than enough heat!) for my cooking with the centre burner, and I really love its sleek style. BTW, another huge bonus with the Contemporary Cooktop that the other Wolf ones don't have - the fact that the knobs lit up with LED when being used is such a great safety feature for me that I really am pleased that I have chosen it!!!
