Finally some decent blooms!

Finally few blooms good enough to post.

Spectral Elegance has taken it on the chin this season. This is the fiest bloom that has opened correctly. i have lost about a third of its blooms to bud drop, so disappointing.

Purple Maze seems to be doing ok, yesterdays bloom( the first) was really pale.

Christine Dixon had a rough start, the first two blooms were messy. Triple bloom today, the blooms are an inch smaller than they should be.

Happy Happy looks good today, a bit yellower than I usually see, bud count is lower this season.

Eenie Weenie seems unaffected by the weird weather. Two blooms yesterday and this nice show today.I love this little daylily, it has been in the garden a long time, divided, doesnt ever skip a beat.

It's great to see some wonderful blooms from your garden. I'm so glad the flowers are improving for you. Spectral Elegance has such beautiful round form. I love the color combo on Purple Maze, and Christine Dixon and Eenie Weenie are lovely group shots. Happy Happy does seem more yellow than I've seen it, but it's still a pretty bloom.

mantis: I don't grow CIMARRON ROSE so can't comment on it. Val: I have not noticed any splotchiness on PAINTING THE ROSES RED as much as I've seen it happen on other cultivars. I know it is said it is attributed to thrips but sometimes I wonder if that is really the only cause. I did spray this year but perhaps I should have done a second round of it but then with all the weather issues, I didn't think it would be wise. Thanks all for the comments. The seedling will continue to hold a spot here. :D. Very hot/humid here today. Hope we get a cool down tomorrow. I need to get back to moving plants. Julia

Thanks, everyone! As per Marie's request I took a couple of pictures with my phone to show off the size. I'd say it's about 1.4 foot (about 42 cm) tall from the top of the pot. Please excuse the ugly bloom. This is the first real flush of blooms it's had and I had to coax open that one. I needed to move it to a more shaded area but was just too lazy the past couple of days with some back pain. Kirk P.S. Oh, Rick you didn't impose at all. We both live in Houston but I think we're clear across town from each other which would make it a little bit of a journey for both of us with Houston traffic. Although, one day, when neither of us are super busy I'd love to see her collection in person with my camera in hand! LOL

I, too, have finally had my first blooms this week. Everything seems to be slow in getting started. My first bloom this year was Dominic, which I haven't seen in a few years, due to the rather heavy shade it is in, but a decent clump just the same, but it never bloomed there. Aside from everything being behind by a good week or more, I have had some odd early bloomers. Scapes are alot shorter than normal. Looks like a stellar year for earwigs though!! And the yellow jackets made a nest on the ground in the raised daylily bed, I discovered by surprise.

I always like Spectral Elegance and so sorry bud drop has caused a lack of blooms. Purple Maze and Christine Dixon look good in the heat. I would not have recognized Happy Happy in that yellow look.

Eenie Weenie takes me back to the good old days. I was crazy about it and my neighbor had to have some for the front of her border. Such a cutie in a pot on the patio table too........I don't think I've ever seen Happy Happy with a yellow base color. I always thought it was that parchment color before turning cream/white. I love that orange base color in Purple Maze. Unfortunately it is not colorfast here..........Maryl

That's a nice clump of Eenie Weenie. Bob and I were just talking about the diploids seem to be taking the heat and drought better than the tets.

I also like your Purple Maze. We have had no luck with it in our garden. It has dwindled to one fan I think. It will soon leave the garden.

Nan, Purple Maze has done fairly well here, it does get some shade here.

Christine Dixon is really pretty even if it is smaller than usual. Eenie Weenie is a bright pretty yellow. Purple Maze looks really good even with the weather, Sherry. Nice post,
