You could buy a faucet that has an integrated sprayer rather than a separate side sprayer that you are talking about. That way you don’t need that additional hole in your counter. Furthermore, a faucet with an integrated sprayer has more water pressure, doesn’t break as much as side sprayers, and best of all you don’t have to keep your hand on the dang lever to keep the water on spray.

Drilling after the fact is easy and mess-free, but I like Verbo's suggestion.

Thanks, but I don't like the pulldown faucets. Totally not my style. We have a beautiful beach house built in 1915. The faucet we chose is good neck with cross style handles. I never go with trendy styles. I go with a timeless, classic look. So - I guess the important thing is that the granite company can come back and drill a hole pretty easily. Will that cause a lot of vibration? We just replastered all the walls and installed new cabinets and wood floor.

Why aren't you contacting the granite fabricator/install company? Mine have always wanted to see the exact faucet before drilling...was no one on site during install?

Not an issue at all to drill holes in granite/marble/quartzite. With the right tools it won't take them more than a few minutes. Could something go wrong? Sure, but not something that happens often.

My family had a single-handle faucet with integrated sprayer when my mother re-did our kitchen in 1980. The side sprayer we had before it was always breaking, and the lever would stop working when you pressed it, the spray head would get clogged so that it dribbled, and gunk would collect around the hole. The ”new” faucet with integrated sprayer that replaced the side sprayer was 42 years ago, but whatever.

I did contact the installer, but I wrote my question last night after they were closed. Also - I asked additional questions about vibration with regard to my plaster walls.

Yes. I was on site when the drilling took place. My faucet, etc. were in the kitchen. No one spoke to me about the faucet.

If that were the case, this forum would not be of much use. No one “insisted“ anything, they gave suggestions to help you. Most people - not you evidently - want all the advice, which is for free, with as much information as possible. It is a mistake to think that anything with respect to kitchen design can be taken one element at a time.

It is on YOU that you did not explain your constraint about your faucet choice. And NO, no one on this thread responded with a faucet suggestion after you advised about your faucet choice. You are indignant to people who kindly took the time to advise you. This is the internet, you cannot dictate how people can respond.

I am a fabricator. The fabricator has an obligation to find out what you need for holes and then provide them or, sometimes, tell you the faucet won't work with your layout. Fabricator should come back and drill a hole on site. For a competent installer with the correct tools this is easily done.

Your walls will not suffer vibration damage from drilling another faucet hole.

To M. Miller: Uhh...yes people did suggest an integrated faucet after I said I didn't want one. I never asked about a faucet. I asked about the granite. Please sit down.

Thank you to the folks who answered my questions. I appreciate your experience and expertise. I spoke with the contractor and they are confident they can drill another hole without issue. If there is an issue they will stand behind their work. They apologized for the inconvenience. Thanks again.

Many people don't read through the whole thread before responding or might not have refreshed the page and missed a bunch of posts while they were responding. People just like to give their own opinion, even if 20 people before them said the same thing! Also the point of these forums isn't just to help you and/or answer your particular question ... the forums become even more useful when others can learn from the post and see how other people might have designed things differently for that project. That is just life on the internet!

People here tend to discuss things I never would have thought of on my own which I am grateful for. You don’t know what you don’t know which can be the path to an expensive mistake in a kitchen renovation. Gooseneck with cross handles is very far from a timeless look. It’s as trendy as it gets. All style and no substance. People suggested a pulldown because it is far more functional. Not because it’s trendy. Technology advanced, and inproved the usability and function. Same with a refrigerator instead of an icebox.

Yes there are "features" where the order of posts seen by posters can be different. I don't know how it happens or why, but I have seen it happen several times. It may have something to do with autmoderation. There can also be deleted posts.

@Verbo - the OP posted her partially finished kitchen near the top of the thread, though it's not the entire kitchen. It is unfortunate her reaction to people's suggestions about a faucet was so over the top - think about it, it's a faucet. Just a faucet. Suggestions for a faucet. People on this thread seemed happy to help her until she reacted so hot, SMH.

@btydrvn - wow, I did not notice the sink for sure. It could be just the angle of the photo that is distorting the sink width? The OP said her faucet is a gooseneck style with cross handles. That means it’s 3 holes, right, plus the side spray? Like this photo I am imagining, but maybe I am totally wrong. I wonder how it will fit with the width of the sink.

It’s next to a dishwasher that’s presumably the standard size, so not the photo angle. But OP said this was a beach house, so maybe not a kitchen that sees a lot of use (or the cabinets were existing). An 8” spread faucet should still fit even if it’s only a 20” sink, though—we had a sink that size with an 8” wall-mount bridge faucet pre-remodel (though no sprayer). Not ideal but it got the job done.

No, I am not seeing it differently than you, but I don't think that's how how it works. I believe when you post something with pics the automoderator will scan and check the image before making the post publicly viewable (this keeps inappropriate images off the site). However, you will see your post immediately to accommodate editing.

The end result is that a poster can sometimes their posts in a different order from others, so it is probable that the OP is seeing their post before @RoyHobbs post.
