Need a Lesson 101: Solar shades vs Screen shades vs Roller shades
Comments (3)I've never heard that Solar Shades are to be used on the exterior only and I've seen plenty of use on double pane windows within the house. If a shade had an insulating effect and was sealed along the edges or had sealed side tracks, then that would not be safe to use with double pane. Solar screens are just that.....screens. They go outside the window just as any other type of screen is used. Roller shades can be decorative lightweight window coverings, but the term 'roller' is also used for the Solar Shades since they are usually on some type of roller system. It sounds like Solar Shades will fit your need. Here is a link that might be useful: Interior Shades...See MoreFlorida Pool Owners - Please advise on solar
Comments (13)We are in Orlando, 9 panels - pool 16 x 32 w/7 ft. spa. Currently the water is in the mid 70s. Too cold for me to swim, but I like to keep the water as warm as possible so it takes less to heat up the spa. I typically need it 85 + to swim, especially if it is not very hot outside. I have tried to find a happy medium during the summer, but it always ends up too hot, so I think this year I will just turn it off mostly. We are screened, full sun in the morning until about 2:00. Hopefully we will be swimming by the end of March . . . We were still swimming in early November....See MoreDIY Solar Pool Heat - Where to buy panels - South Florida
Comments (2)I have called the local one and they did not carry them. Leslie's pool supply has 4' * 20' panels but I am not sure of the quality (they seem to be for above ground pools.)...See MoreSolar shades, should Ieave them bare or get the valance?
Comments (17)Hm... I'm stick on beverly's comment. We currently have dark blinds on the house and I am so looking forward to replacing them with white/cream tones to give more light to the space. I like the idea of seeing the exterior through the shades, but I do want privacy from the outside and I do want the window coverings to look light, not dark. We will probably go with top down/bottom up shades so I'm not even sure this is an issue for me, but it raises interesting questions I didn't realize would be on the table. (Sorry to derail you, OP - glad you are going with the valence)...See Morecpartist
