Help with range hood installation

I would like to install a new ductless range hood but have a small problem. There is a 3/4” edge trim that extends from the bottom of the cabinet in the front that prevents the hood from sitting flush against the underside of the cabinet. Can I simply use longer wood screws to secure the hood and leave a 3/4” gap between the top of the hood and the underside of the cabinet? Thanks! I’m new at this!

That is the bottom pf the cabinet box. Flushing out the bottom is a better option.

A recirculating hood has a couple of methods of which it blows the air back into the room. It sometimes has a grille at the top, and the ones that move more air, and are more effective, need a duct and a grille to an internal locatin within the home.

You need to study the specs and installation instructions to see what method and materials is needed, in addition to the dedicated electrical outlet.

There is a vent toward the front of the hood that recycles the air and there is an electrical outlet in the cupboard. It’s the edge of the cabinet box that is confusing me. Thanks for your help.

Angie, seriously how did I miss that the hole is nearly exactly the same square inches as a 6" pipe. Now I'm questioning where I got the 8" number from. I think 6" is the right size since 3.75 * 7.625 ~ 3.14159 * 9 ... yay. Casey, that is exactly what I bought (a 4" x 8" from 6" round register transition) but I was questioning if my thought of snipping and bending flaps was right or not. Thank you so much for confirming that. Though in your google search the 'end' boot looks even better because it would combine the rectangular to round transition and one of two 90 degree elbows into one piece. I might try to find one of those locally just to save some space in the cabinet and have fewer seams. circuspeanut- Thanks! I would prefer the 8" but I don't think I can fit the necessary elbows in the cabinet... unless I do the end boot + 1 elbow... hrmn. I will look into this as I don't want to end up with a hood too loud to use comfortably.

Like the 2Franks said, flush the bottom of the cabinet. Either fill it in with plywood or just strips of 1x lumber positioned where the hood fasteners need purchase. Screw to the bottom of the cabinet. The fill needs to be flush/ nearly flush with the bottom edge of the face frame. You may need to stack a combination of spacers/ fill to get there.
