Floating floor underlayment question

For Edson
last year

We’re about to install an engineered wood floor that requires an underlayment pad with built-in moisture membrane.

I know people want foot traffic noise reduction, but did those who used the underlayment pads designed to reduce foot noise also find that it’s now hard to hear each other from room to room?

We like being able to yell back and forth and hear each other from room to room to a reasonable extent, and are concerned that the house will be muffled sounding like a recording studio.

Any personal experience would be appreciated!
