It's a great looking house with lovely brick. I want to second @Jilly suggestion that you not ruin the brick. eliminate the awnings at least over the windows (like you already plan) replace the front door if you like consider new railing or painting it black landscape!! I think the absolute biggest improvement you can make to that house is to add landscaping. Right now it is just boring nothingness. Good landscaping brings a house to life. You need beds of plants around the house and some trees if you have the space. Maybe you'll be lucky and someone with design skills can mock something for you. (Sorry I don't have that skillset.)

I think the house is very attractive, but I would want to amp up the landscaping. Is that a circular driveway or just a walkway? I guess either way, I would add some dimension by landscaping this side of the concrete where the grass is. Not all the grass, but an area close to the concrete. Create a bed (a large one the length of the house at least) with berms and ornamental trees and plants. None of these is ideal, but just to give you an idea of what I'm suggesting.

Maybe it just isn’t the right house for you. There are so many builders in my area doing the uniform white brick with dark trim, maybe in your area, too? The brick on this house is beautiful, varied, and interesting. Classic. I don’t think it needs to be fixed … maybe landscaping and a different trim color would look nice. I really hate that HGTV and IG have made people dislike warm colors in bricks and stone. When the fad goes away, there will be so many permanently defaced houses out there. I’d love to have Chicago brick.

I did't know what to call the house style and I'd seen others reference a raised brick ranch so I thought that was what it is, but just knowing it's called a Suburban Colonial helps tremendously in my search for ways to update it. The door is a wooden door with a rectangle of leaded glass in it. There's no storm door. I really appreciate all of the input everyone. I'm not a fan of fake shutters so I'll probably remove them and add larger trim around the windows, as well as large columns and just lean in to a subtle colonial look. I'm not a fan of the orange brick so I'll have to chew on whether or not I can live with it and just have the vinyl siding painted a darker color or if I should just using a masonry paint on the brick and do the whole thing a lighter color. We don't close on it for about a month and I'm so itchy to get over there and start on the landscaping. 😐
