Does anyone grow 'Ralph Moore's South African OGR?'
Comments (17)You're welcome! I enjoyed the rose for many years and spread it around to any and all who would grow it until I couldn't maintain it any longer. Unfortunately, I no longer have any photos nor slides of it. Most were destroyed in a 1996 fire. The remaining ones I salvaged were discarded last month when I had to significantly reduce my "clutter" when I moved. The photos in the URLs I sent could easily be substituted for what I regularly experienced in my climate and garden. I have always spread anything old, rare, unusual and obscure as far and as wide as possible. I NEVER want to be the one holding the last unicorn horn. Too many wonderful and interesting things have been lost that way. Ralph Moore handed me many of his breeders and interesting seedlings over the years with this in mind and I've had the pleasure of sharing many of them back with him when he'd lost them. But, you reach a point where you just can't be the archivist nor curator of everything anymore....See MoreWanted Fresh Pink miniature Rose by Moore
Comments (0)I am looking for the miniature rose Fresh Pink by Ralph Moore (1964). It seems everywhere I look it is not being sold, does anyone have some cuttings I could have or exchange. Or do you know who might be selling it? Thank you....See MoreMy Ralph Moore Roses, part two
Comments (13)Thanks Daun, I added Precious Dream in Sept, that's another Hybrid Bracteata and will have the same bloom form as Julie Link but will be a soft pink. I also planted next to it Out Of The Night, which is a near white and white blend with a yellow center. There are two others I like. Lemon Pearls that is a soft yellow and Amber Gem that is a pink to orange blend that I'll probably add in the spring. Again, these are all Hybrid Bracteatas that he's introduced since 2002 to 2006. Out of his 2007 roses I selected Sequoia Ballet, a Grandiflora. I wanted it last spring but I was dissuaded from purchasing it then. I saw it in Sept and admired the bush they grow it off of and was told by the manager she was impressed by how well it did with the hot summer we had and how fast it grew even more so. I was really sorry I didn't get it in the spring. I have it now though. Hi Rainbow, yes I have plenty of lavenders, I keep trying for purple. Mauves and pinks are second, white blends are next and orange, yellows and those blends are coming in neck and neck now. These roses are only my Moore roses, I have a lot more roses than this:) Leslie...See MoreShow off your Ralph Moore Roses
Comments (27)Hi roseangelyn - Your petals are more pointed and I would love to see more pics of this rose if you have any to post! This rose isn't easily available anymore. In fact, I sent a cutting to Burling Leong who is theoretically producing more but I haven't seen it on her list of miniatures. It might be a "waiting list" only rose. My rose has been quite variable and also has pointed petals at times. Here are some prior year pics. This is the very first bloom I got after receiving the plant. The color is so much darker than what I've had since then. First spring in the ground. Typically my PP's color ranges from this shade to the lighter shade in my prior photos. I also got more striping and larger stamens this year which was great. Ann...See MoreUser
