I bought the CR-recommended LG LSE4617ST which I like. You can spend less for the LSE4616ST which lacks some features, or more for the LSIS3018SS which has a more modern appearance. I wanted a range with knobs for the cooktop elements.

I have the GE Cafe induction which I love but if I had a choice (we were working with an existing footprint) I would get a cooktop and wall oven combo. Preferabley a double oven that includes a good speed oven.

Yeah, if I were sure we’d stay in this house longer than 5 years, I’d do a double wall oven and a cooktop. But while the footprint is not super small the appliance area is not huge and for now I don’t feel I can do the double oven. And there’s the venting issue I’ve been reading about. But thanks for the info.

Samsung and Cafe offer two-oven induction ranges with knobs. HD and BB owners like the Samsung though it is backordered.

Yeah, I know some people really like the knobs. I sort of like without knobs.

There are three things: 1) Whether your kitchen can support a wall oven 2) Whether it makes the most functional sense 3) Aesthetics. We can't answer 1) without info on your kitchen, but let's assume you have space for it (meaning you are not making your kitchen less functional by taking away counterspace with a wall oven).

2) Wall ovens only make functional sense if they are close to the stove and you feel like you have ergonomic issues with the height of a regular range's oven. If the oven is a walk from the stovetop, or if it's a drop-door style and installed too high, it is less functional. French door ovens even the playing field a bit here, but there aren't that many on the market.

3) Aesthetics is all personal preference. I prefer the look of a nice range.

I do not think the heat output of an oven is anything that should sway this decision. Yes, mine put out heat - the floor gets pretty warm from them - but unless you don't have air conditioning I don't see this as being a huge problem. It's been in the 90s here and I still used my ovens for pizza over the weekend. Didn't think twice about it. Ranges also put out heat - usually from the back vent. I don't think it's appreciably less, you just feel it in different places.

If it were my kitchen, I would get the GE Cafe induction range with a double oven. I feel meh about my wall ovens and honestly would prefer a range. Unless you are ONLY baking or ONLY using the stovetop, separating them doesn't make much sense to me. I do a lot of stove-to-oven cooking and having to move between my wall oven and rangetop is annoying. Plus I like having the rangetop to put things when they come out of the oven...now I usually have to use trivets. Obviously personal decision, but the range is more functional IMO.

I prefer the ergonomics of a wall oven. It's more awkward, IMO, to load & remove things in a range oven, having to stand aside the door & stoop low. (I'm afraid of burning my shins!) It's easier for me to load & remove food from a waist high wall oven. Plus, with a cooktop, pots & pans are stored below; roasting pans & cookie sheets are stored under & above my wall oven. I like that organizational efficiency. I also like that one person can be at the cooktop & another at the oven area, staying out of each other's way.

I got a GE Twin Flex oven last year, two small ovens in the space of a single. It doesn't vent uncomfortably hot air. The vented air is warm if you're running an oven at 400 degrees or more or using the air fry feature, but the fan turns off quickly afterwards. Maybe it's because the small ovens don't need as forceful, extreme venting? Overall, an excellent, useful oven, if a bit pricey & maybe hard to obtain these days.

Appliance availability is the other hurdle in your plans, especially if you may be moving in 5 years. You might have to settle for what's in stock as opposed to what you desire.
