Comments (24)Linda, That is a VERY intriguing--brilliant, perhaps?--idea! I also like the idea of signing in the pink too, where it will be visible but won't stand out above the pattern of the quilt. There is something about writing on quilts in general that typically doesn't appeal to me from an aesthetic point of view. Signature blocks, for example are not my style -- But I do like the sentimental part of it. I think this could really add to the quilt. Just like Mary had people who contributed QOV blocks write their name and city on them -- I think of the veteran looking at their quilt and thinking of the people from all over thinking about, and appreciating, them. Hmmmm... I think I REALLY like this idea. BTW -- When My Step Daughter got married she got a plain white serving pattern and some pens that you write on ceramic w/ and then "bake" it in the oven and had all the wedding guests sign the plate. Very cool!...See MoreWhat is your favorite HST quilt/quilt block?
Comments (22)ME TOO, what is pork n beans???? Karlene, taking something apart is right up there with cleaning house lol!! I enjoy making HSTs with the 8 at a time pattern - I don't care for the grid method at all. After seeing yous guys post pics of the 'Depression Block' it's on my list. The one I have enjoyed so far was Bonnie's different sizes of the Ohio Star - I used a large floral and white and it turned out very pretty. Why do we spend more time and make sure they are the best we can make them and then GIVE them away LOL?? Rosa...See MoreAsian Arcadia top is finished
Comments (13)Thanks, everyone. Yes, Sharon, the fabric is from Blue Bamboo. They've really increased their selection of fabrics and added a ton of modern prints and, get this, organic cotton fabric at $16.99/yard! Just in case you really want to spend a ton of money on a quilt. The fabric is beautiful and the prints are so cool. My sister bought a bunch to make pillowcases. It's all available on-line at mybluebamboo.com. Marsha, the border was cut at 6 inches....See MorePlease help me finish my bedroom
Comments (25)Hello, I am katsmah's daughter. Thank you for all your compliments and ideas on the room. Almost everything you have recommended, I have tried, but she can be rather stuborn. First, I would like to say, I never leaned toward Tiffany Blue. I think it's too bright, and she doesn't like it anyway. I think the blue-ish grey that you see everywhere now would be beautiful in here. As far as prints, I think a Damask would be nice, it's mature and elegant to go with her beautiful furniture, but she doesn't like Damask, or really any prints for that matter. She wants to do stripes, which I think wouldn't go with the lines of the furniture. As far as moving the furniture around, I did a whole layout on a free website, but she said that outside wall is too cold, and she sleeps here, so it's her say in the end. As far as the headboard, I had first traced out the front arch of the dresser to get the proper length, it's the same width as a queen bed, and then I lined up the ends of the mirror to flow seemlessly into the arch and cut that out, but I don't think I can make a wood frame around it....Update! I just found out she want's Damask now, not stripes anymore. Thank you, now I can actually get this thing started. She is starting to trust me now that you have all confirmed what I have been saying. Thank you all....See More
