Living room suggestions - TV placement, couch/chair style/layout?
Comments (8)Their current lay out block traffic flow. I would much rather go with a love seat and a few comfy chairs. How many in your family. That is how many seats you need. The rest is over kill and does anyone actually FILL a huge sectional or do three people use it? I am just not a fan. As for the TV placement, most want a visual of both the fireplace and the TV so your plan seems to be a decent option. The built in would be worth looking at...It is ironic how often the MOSTLY unused fireplaces everyone desires really messes with furniture arranging. Your new floors are to die for. This gray fad confuses me. Gray is cold, like stainless. Your kitchen and flooring are so warm and rich looking. Half your new space is painted warm the other cool... Which colors will you embrace?...See More10 yrs and I still can’t get our living room right - HELP PLS

Comments (20)I would keep this basic arrangement with a few changes: 1. Whatever is in front of the fireplace needs to go. 2. Move the tree someplace other than this room. 3. Put the two red chairs together in front of the railing and send the recliner to another room. 4. Get matching floor to ceiling curtains for all windows in this space. 5. Get a rug large enough to hold all front feet of the sofa and chairs. 6. Replace the current console with a longer one that spans nearly the width from fireplace to wall and is no higher than the one you have now....See Morevery small, odd shaped living room with no room for a couch, help!
Comments (10)Hey Mikeala, while you may have to make some compromises due to space restrictions, you can definitely fit a compact couch in the room. As @mindshift recommends, it would a good idea to keep all your furniture compact and as small as possible. I've made a couple of options for you here. (All dimensions are approximated from the images you have posted) For the first layout, I've eliminated the coffee table and added a slim console by the entrance, a wall mounted TV and an end table. You could also buy nested tables so you could stack them when they aren't being used. For the area by the staircase, I've added a tall bookcase and a couple of chairs for extra seating. adding a mirror would give a sense of a larger space, I've styled this room with modern furniture with a touch of hollywood glam. For the second option, the entrance is more open although the TV unit has been placed on the large wall. This allows TV viewing from both seating areas and yet separates the space. You may prefer this layout if you don't like the idea of having a living right at the entrance. I've styled this room with Scandinavian furniture. Do send us measurements and photos so we could further customize these for you. You could also add/ swap furniture and make your own layouts here....See MoreErin Kelly
