Frozen pizza box in side-by-side fridge
Comments (9)Our new counter depth Whirlpool SxS is just as small. Largest freezer shelf might barely be 12"W x 12"D...and that is at the top. Lower shelves are 9" deep. Our 19 year-old Amana counter depth had more generous freezer shelves, and enough shelves. I had to buy another freezer shelf to the tune of $117 for this new one. Because we would never have anything in the freezer that is 15" tall And we needed the shelf. Model WRS571CIHZ from Lowe's....See MoreSide-by-Side fridge for 37" wide corner space,
Comments (11)You'd think the mid price 36" refrigerator manufacturers would keep the right or left swing top doors just for this reason. It's only been fairly recently that they purged them, minus Fisher Paykel (DCS) or adjusting down to a 33" fridge. That said, I have an twelve year old 36" SxS Kitchen Aid which has sat next to a half wall/railing. I see what elofgren demonstrates and jwvideo discusses: handle types can make wall issues even worse. My old fridge has the long european handles, which run close to the door. I think our clearance to the right wall is about 1 7/8" and surprisingly with what ever hinge it has and being full depth, we have had few problems over the years with the subject matter. Kitchen Aid refrigerators are 35 1/2" wide. I read on GW that SxS door clearance is less than that required by a french door refrigerator by a 1/2" or so but didn't bookmark the reference. So you may be right in looking at SxS's given your situation. I'm thinking to delay a new refrigerator purchase, in spite of the new remodel. Our cabinets are going in next week, and that's when I'll have input on refrigerator panels (should be at least 1/2"), as well as how snug the cabinets prior to the fridge may go etc. While everyone is telling me to buy, I'm going to buy time instead. Next years 36" refrigerator models may accommodate a wall better-maybe a maker will have pity on us wall huggers! Good luck with your decision. I sympathize with you, as I've traveled and researched this decision ad nauseam....See Morefridge and stove side by side - is this ok?
Comments (22)Lynn, is that a new stove too? What I'm asking is, will it have higher BTU's? My new stove really "kicks out" to the sides when it ignites the burner, please be careful. The stove manufacturer usually lists the required minimum clearances for surrounding cabinets/walls with a diagram right in the front of the stove manual. Personally, I'd be worried about a fire hazard with everything in such close proximity. I think the new wood fridge cabinet is going to restrict the fridge's heat exhaust and to me, seems dangerously close to the burners. How about a stainless steel heat shield on the side wall (and behind the stove) instead of tile? Also, make sure your new microwave vents out enough of the heat from the stove. Some of those microwave fans are less powerful, or recirculating air back into the room and not exhausting out (I don't know what you're installing). Good luck!...See MoreStuck with getting another Side by Side Fridge with icemaker?
Comments (19)I went to Pacific Sales, the local appliance specialist store in my area, with my measurements this weekend and it was kind of a mess. They had all these fridges but with no measurements about their dimensions. So, I approached one of their sales staff with my measurements for help, hoping they could narrow down my search to the fridges that would fit. Instead, the salesman said I should look around at all the fridges, find one that I liked, and then they'd tell me if it fit or not. Instead of looking at all the fridges, shouldn't I just look at the ones that fit? Anyways, I'd find one that I'd like and then have to ask that salesman to measure it because I didn't bring along a tape measure. Finally, I found one that he said would fit. Only, I later learned it didn't fit because it was too tall since he didn't measure the fridge hinges on top. I know I'm probably making this harder than it needs to be, but I'm just worried about buying a fridge that will turn out not to fit or something. I have to buy a fridge in the next couple of days, and I'm afraid I'm rushing into buying one and making a stupid mistake with the dimensions or something silly like that.
