Pumpkin Progress Update--Same Problems Again
Comments (9)Ok, let's try this again. Below is a picture of a vine. As far as noticing anything unusual before the pumpkins do this, there are only two things that I can think of that stand out to me. First, I did notice that the leaves up at the start of the vine, in other words, the first couple of leaves that sprouted from the ground started to brown, withered and died away. But it was just those first few leaves. The rest of the leaves look lush and green with no signs of any type of problems. Besides, I always thought as the vine grows longer, those first few leaves eventually start to brown away anyways, so I didn't think it was anything unusual. But maybe it was? The other thing that I noticed was just as the pumpkin was starting to slightly start to turn color, there was one spot that wasn't turning color, but instead was just a ghost white color. I knew that was a bad sign. When I first noticed that this certain spot was not turning color, I pressed on it slightly just to see if it was soft in any way. It had just a slight give to it, whereas the rest of the pumpkin was hard as a rock. It's like this certain spot didn't fully develop or something, unlike the rest of the pumpkin. It didn't develop that hardness to it. Those are the only 2 things I can think of that may have signaled trouble. And by the way, Trev, you are correct, that blackness was just a secondary thing. That wasn't originally there. The only thing there was the white spot. And when that white spot first developed, that spot was like indented. In other words, think of somebody peeling away the skin of an onion. If you just skin the peel away in one certain spot, eventually that spot won't be even with the rest of the onion. If you ran your hand over that onion, once your hand hit that spot where you peeled away the skin, it would be slightly indented. This is how the pumpkin was....See MoreUpdate on DR progress - new (CL) table in place & I have a ?
Comments (12)I think dark paint will take the whole look up a style notch. It looks nice now, but honestly, a teeny bit yawn worthy - don't hate me! And you know I am normally off the black paint bandwagon - too predictable, too dust highlighting, so I think charcoal will be tres chic. However..... painting the fan spindles will be a royal PITA unless you spray. You're gonna think I'm nuts, but I'd tape off everything but the fan spindles and spray them - in charcoal if you can find it, but black if not - and then paint the rest of the chair charcoal. Bring them over here on a crisp day and we'll do it together!...See MorePhotos~ What you can do in 6 Long.. Long Days- My progress
Comments (19)Thank you everyone.. The floor is concrete stamping and hardwood around that. When my dh built the house himself and no his isn't a builder. I met him when the house was just finishing up. He actually instead of flowing the hardwood through the kitchen in his mind it was here is the kitchen let's outline it.. LOL He laid tile in it. But due to the fact we are a concrete company - he decided last year the broken tile had ton come up. Beleive me I begged for the hardwood to go throughout. But then we decided what the heck let's try the stamp able overlay in the kitchen. Kinda a testi..we always do stamp able overlays on slabs, lets test it on plywood. Its held uo good for the past year. Iam just tickled pink I got to paint the cabinets and do my thing. Again thank you everyone fornyour kind words. Comments (37)Hello everyone. This has been a process. Thrilled with how the chairs turned out. The picture does not do it justice. New webbing, foam and Dacron wrapped seats. We will wait for next year to tackle refinishing the table. We want to use the table during the fall/winter months vs the kitchen counter. Put up a new light fixture (34" from the table) Now....I'm thinking of curtains on the entire back wall as suggested by Beth H. : ...but what color? What do you think about a colored sheer? I do like the light coming through the blinds....which we did ditch the metal blinds.. ran to Home Depot and got faux wood for now. I'll post some updated photos. As always, your comments are truly appreciated....See Moretozmo1
