Design Dilemma Kitchens Plumbing

kitchen design— to mix or not to mix hardware colors.

Hi! I want your opinions on combining hardware colors.
Below are pictures—
Perimeter of kitchen cabinetry will be white. Islands in dark wood. I love the brass faucet by Kohler, to go with a farmers white sink. I don’t know wether I should do all of my hardware in brass (hard to match kohler to other hardware and kohler doesn’t make pretty hardware) or should I mix with other metals?
The furthest island will be a waterfall
Will attach more pics on comments. The wood samples
are for the cabinetry on top of the hardwood floor to go throughout.

I have mixed metal hardware, brass and satin nickel. Maybe something like that would work? I had an antique chandelier that I wanted to use over my kitchen table. It was shiny brass. I wanted to tie it together with the cabinet hardware without going all brass.

Looking at your wood samples, just make sure your island doesn't end up with burgundy undertones and you wood floors with orange undertones. Ask for a full size door sample of your cabinet colors.

Find a good local plumbing/hardware showroom and you should be able to find some hardware that complements the kohler faucets. It doesn't have to be an exact match, specially when they aren't installed right next to each other.

To follow up on this, I ended up going with silver/shiny hardware and it turned out FANTASTIC - I've included a picture for context. I had a bunch of false starts including hardware that was too delicate - I must have tried everything. The hardware I ended up using was from Lowe's (chunkier for the bottom cabinets and hidden dishwasher and a bit lighter for the uppers, NOT matching but close enough that it works - I tried knobs instead of pulls on the uppers and it just didn't work for me functionally, and I thought they looked ugly). This is what I ended up with after trying hardware from Lowe's, Home Depot, Gracious Home, IKEA and probably a store or two I'm not thinking of. Lots of purchases and returns (almost all unopened items but still). The hardware now is one of my favorite parts of the kitchen.

Black cabinets, white marble, stainless appliances, brushed nickel inset cabinet door hinges, old silver cabinet pulls and oil rubbed bronze faucets. Oh yeah, and that's on undermount sinks - one Shaws white fireclay apron sink and one hammered mirror finish stainless Elkay bar sink. It looks great and everyone comments on how great it all goes together!

@arboston NO! Mixing metal is absolutely great, but there has to be some logic involved to avoid mish mash. . Use the brass knobs and pulls on ALL of the cabinetry. Please. I doubt your appliances are polished nickel, they are probably stainless. With a STAINLESS faucet, you would have a lovely mix of brass and stainless finishes, a beautiful warm/cool mix.....and logic as well, with no visual confusion, as your metal finishes will be limited to TWO.

I really like number 5, the white and gold one, but it's not right for the setting. Number 4 is very striking and would probably work. Number 3 is too mid/mod. For me, it's in the same category as 5 - cool but not right. Number 2 will be safe (three across). I don't like 1 or 6 at all. HTH

Waterfall counter with rustic wood floor, beadboard & vintage looking faucets???

Just NO! Save the $$ and don't do a waterfall.

@ci_lantro it’s a shaker panel style cabinets, sorry those were more to point out the colors. But, you know… you are right about having the distressed, rustic floors, faucet style, farmers sink (another different look) and a waterfall! I think I’ll need to reconsider that. Thank you for pointing all those points out

I have a small 12x10 condo kitchen with a spot for a table. The chandelier is an 1880's brass fixture that hangs over the table. I have had it for many years, from when we lived in our house, and I am emotionally attached to it, so I wanted to keep it. The cabinets are Kraftmaid Vantage, Canvas-painted uppers and Toffee-stained maple lowers. Cambria Helmsley counters. I have some glass door fronts. I thought that the two-tone handles tied in the stainless appliances, sink and faucet with the light. Also, I don't like things that are matchy-matchy. I have to say that the KD didn't really "get it", but when he came by after his crew had finished, I think he understood what I was going for. BTW, whatever hardware you get, buy a few extra, just in case. I think certain cabinets that you touch a lot might need replacements down the road, and as you can see, the ones I got aren't available anymore. These are very similar.
