Just wanted to say I have a 60" vanity with double sinks. It's comfortable, but certainly not roomy. There is counter space in between the sinks, and a tiny bit on the outside. I suspect it *might* be possible to cram two standard sinks together in something like a 48" vanity, but you would have almost no counter space at all. Perhaps something like a two faucet trough sink? I'm sorry I have no idea how you would possibly cram a larger vanity in there in addition to the tub and toilet. Why can't you move the attic access hatch? It seems like your best bet without changing exterior walls would be to take some closet space. Alternatively, I've seen remodels (at least one HGTV's Sarah's House show) where they've done a wall full of shallow closets instead of a walk in closet. You might be able to do that along one wall of your bedroom and repurpose the current closet into bathroom space.

Hey Gibby -- 6 x 10 bath here [finally demo'd last week!] and I know that my size isn't even that small. I've been on the lookout for 3 or so years and it's been surprisingly difficult to find ideas. Aside from "recess whenever possible," of course! There's the "monochromatic = more spacious" school of thought but IMO there are alternative ways to lead the eye around the room and create interest in a small space. Things to consider: * color / color contrast * the lines of an object (round vs square) * judicious use of oversized scale * having some consistency with eyelines/sightlines of your vertical elements Here are some of the apparently-smaller baths I've found that put at least one of the above into action: We're adapting this built-into-doorway cab for our bath -- ours will be built out from the wall, perpendicular to the sink, and serve as a med cabinet. I'd use a wall-hung if this were a full bath, but I do love this! [Note horizontal cladding] I was involved in this [5 x 8 with TWO doors!] bath: Grabbed space from kitchen to make this 15" cubby: IMO one of the biggest challenges with small baths is to create negative space that serves to set off what IS in the room. In our case, we splurged a bit on a demilune/semicircle vanity instead of a square or rectangular one -- given our bowling alley dimensions, it helps carve out some pleasing curves. However, having lived in a place where the tiny wall-hung sink, toilet, and clawfoot were all accessible from one spot I know negative space is sometimes non-existent! I've enjoyed the book below, which has a mix of sizes and lots of materials in it --"ideas for tiny half-baths, medium-size his-and-hers, and large, luxurious home spas. Nice job! Being on the last leg of the reno of the 3rd (and last) bathroom in my house, I can appreciate that sometimes there are things that do not get the attention they should have initially. Like not noticing that the old toilet was centered 16 in from the wall and to remedy that the sick had to move which meant that the door wouldn't close etc etc etc. However, having looked at your pics and consulted with my project manager, we thought that you could look for something to put where you have the little freebee. It could be a one piece unit or a base either cupboard or drawers and a top that matched style wise. You could even place the little one you have on top, with or without the legs. Paint it whatever colour suits you. You could even hang the little one over the toilet tank ( too crowded for me ) or on the adjacent wall , if it didn't interfere with the toilet. In any event, I think the space between the windows is perfect as long as its clean , neat and eyepleasing as I infere from the pics that that is the first thing you are going to see when you enter. IT's amazing what a non-descript bureau or cupboard can look like with a couple of coats of melamine paint ! The Boss offered the suggestion that if you need storage for hair products, portable hair dryer etc, after years of struggling with cupboard storage, mess, things falling over, etc, she finally started using a large basket that she keeps in the closet in the adjoining room ( sometimes ) . Everything is close to hand, easily portable and actually doesn't look bad if left out . Good luck with the rest of the transformation

roarah~ Your shower looks beautiful:) Very much a look I'd go with. My husband wants all of your jets as well! A million thanks for doing the mock-ups as well! It certainly helps me visualize the look. Now to decide...for the shower walls, ether white subway w/ white grout (want as seamless of a look as possible) or porcelain/marble look-a-like (we'll probably go this way) mtnrdredux~ Many thanks as well for your feedback! I'm sure you're bathroom is stunning! One of our next door neighbors did a bathroom reno a few months ago so I'll ask them about what materials they used and if any issues. We're trying to avoid using marble in the shower itself, with the exception of perhaps in a niche depending on which route we go for shower walls. I'm still a little torn on the main bathroom floors. I stopped in this evening to another tile store and saw this one . I seriously need to stop going to stores as there are too many options that I do like. I suppose better than not finding any, right:)?? In lieu of floral, I like this too: I would only do this for the 'mat' look. In all likelihood, we'll end up re-tiling the 2nd bathroom so could use the circular or floral there. My husband prefers the herringbone look and I'm thinking that's the way we'll probably go. (But...I've been known to change my mind!) My husband also likes these pebbles for shower floor. Friends of ours have it in their FL condo, but I'm not convinced about this being an option here. Not really a cohesive look with flooring options, but certainly not slippery etc. There's one that's more grey than pictured below... This weekend, we're going to take a look at a few more vanity options and hopefully decide on some tile! Then, other decisions on faucets, toilets etc. Far too many options!
