Blue or Grey Pool Covers

We are building a house and putting in a pool with a Cover Pools cover. I'm looking for feedback on the Dusky Blue, Slate Grey, or Grey pool covers. I'm coming from a home where we have owned a beige pool cover for 9 years. I know how that ages. I have really enjoyed the pool cover. But, the beige doesn't go with the asethetic of the home quite as well. The Dusky Blue (a dark blue) cover is an interesting choice and that's my husband's preference. The two tones of grey that are options are also possibilities.

How does a dark blue age/wear versus a light color, like beige like I'm used to? The new pool will be in full sun.

The darker colors might fade, but not show dirt as much. I would want a color that blends in best with the deck/pavers around the pool.

its a safety cover? Why not blue then. I would probably choose something close to the color of the pool liner or interior color. Im not an expert, just what i would probably do. Would a darker color heat the pool a bit?

Hmm, it never was as dark as you describe, are you diligently brushing and such? I do remember it had a true gray quality at first, but never black in nature, so that part does confuse me. I can say that ours lightens appreciably when we are low in acid and darkens when the acid load is correct (we like the darker look). We have VERY hard water and use a salt system. I'm not sure I'm much help, sorry! My main advice for now is to brush daily per the recommendations and then wait for chemicals. I'll see if I can dig up some first day photos, we're a few years out now, but they are around here somewhere!

Hi Matt We, too, used solarcovers.com and were extremely pleased w/ both the quick service and the quality of the product. We ordered our cover late on a Wed eve and received it on Fri of the same week! We bought the clear 16 ml (or was it 18ml?) and it works great. We went ahead and purchased a Rocky's roller the next week and have been happy w/ that, too. Our water was delivered at about 55 degrees (not the 75 as claimed) and it HURT! We just used the cover to bring the temp up as our heater had not been hooked up at that time; water shot up to 77 w/i days. Due to a few delays in the project, we had to shut down our pool in Oct so no more swimming for us for now. There is no way to lighten up that patched area. It will always be a mis-match. It may lighten up after a season in the sun, but probably not enough to blend with the original pour. A consideration to make it uniform, is to allow that patched area to fully cure (28 days) and apply a patio coating/paint. Kelley Technical coatings makes a line called Patio Tones. There are several different colors available. They are water based, easy to apply and provide a non-kid finish.

3 of the most popular Pebbletec colors. They are all very similar and the color will depend on the depth of the pool also. The deeper the darker. Also the tanning shelf shallow water will be more of the true color of the material. You really can't go wrong with any of these colors. The water will also reflect your surroundings so keep that in mind. If you are in a heavily landscaped yard with a lot of trees and neighboring trees the pool will take on more of a "greenish" tint. We do more French Grey and Blue Granite than anything mainly because in our area there are restrictions on how dark your pool interior can be. Blue Granite would be the darkest of the allowed colors.

Most of my customers go with either gray choices. It will compliment the colors in your patio, plaster and tile.

Wow, your pool is going to look fantastic! What a view! I hope you'll post the final result. I would love to see which color you picked for the cover, I'm thinking of going with a dark blue as well, but I'm worried about it fading. Best of luck!
