Confessions of a Hemaholic looks great, and I really like Fay's Beautiful Mistake. I don't remember seeing that one before. Sun Dazzle is a really lovely yellow. I always like Pink Tarantula. The garden shots are just bursting with color. I very much enjoyed seeing all your bountiful clumps.

A soil test, and then raised beds if the soil is a problem (as mentioned above) seems quite a responsible way to garden in cities where the soil is contaminated. If there are toxins leaching and settling on leaves, then you're breathing the stuff in anyway, and most likely getting more of it than through the plants. BTW, the garden where they were getting high lead levels in the tomatoes actually goes against what I have learned about uptake of lead by plants (as nc makes clear above.) The U of Mass soil test says that levels up to 500 ppm are fine to grow in (but not for children or pregnant women to work/play in). I suppose there are places with very high levels -- in the thousands ppm. -- and the only responsible way to garden there would be in raised beds. A soil test may actually put your mind quite at ease. And should give recommendations according to what heavy metals you may have high levels of. Or you may be pleasantly surprised. Either way, information is power, so find out what you're working with. And never worry while you're in the garden -- the plants hate worry. :)

Follow up on IF? Yep, it is IF. I should know better. I even used it on a post title - what a difference a day makes. If someone would have showed me these photos I would have thought they were two different DLs. Yesterday's really was the color of my photo. Here is IF today. Thanks. Jane PS: To be honest, I like the 1st DL better. I just had a thought to go check if the two blooms came from the same fan. Here's hoping not. Then I will have two pretty DLs.

This thread is making me so happy I saved this Krossa Regal. For years the poor thing languished in a dry spot. I kept reading all these glowing reports about that particular hosta, and looked at my pathetic specimen. I thought it must have been mislabeled. A couple of years ago I noticed it had diminished so badly the leaves were the size of teaspoons. So finally I decided to do something about it. Honestly I felt like it was a waste of time. The roots were so tiny. But I potted it up and cared for it and put it back in the ground in a much better spot for the winter. Then last year we were having construction done and I had to dig it up again. It spent the winter in a pot sunk in the garden. I have now planted it in a good spot, I hope. This is what it looks like now.

Better Than Pam Mixture that works wonderfully-- 1/2 c solid shortening 1/2 c vegetable oil 1/2 c flour Beat first two ingredients till fluffy like marshmallow whip. Beat in flour. Store in a sealed container at room temperature. If it separates, stir again.

The garden still has lots of color! And those clumps are wonderful. Crazy Cat Lady is so dark. You know I like Sun Dazxle and Pink Tarantula is so pretty. I had first bloom on mine yesterday-thank you!!

Thank you so much, Debra, Faye's Lovely Mistake was sent to me in error, and she realized it and sent the correct plant telling me to plant it as it was pretty...but she had misplaced the name and was not able to find it and even afterwards, they just had to "eat" those plants since they didn't know what they were and could not figure it out. I love it and will keep it. Thank you Sherry, I always like it too, and the clumps have been crazy this year. They just don't stop or when one finishes, another has begun. Kate I am so glad it bloomed for you. I knoee not everyone like Crazy Cat Lady but I do so i post it occasionally. Sun Dazzle is just a jewel and it was a bonus.

Sun Dazzle is ra eally nice yellow.Your clumps are huge and the garden pic is so nice to see. Mean Green I had it in NY where the temps are different and it truly was a fantastic daylily with rich color.

Thank you.. Julia, I assume my very hot temps or even my soil has something to do with Mean Green being lighter. It is a beauty regardless. I was lucky to get Sun Dazzle as a bonus because as you say, it is a goo and very tall yellow. Brad, I like the bright colors, as you can see. Thank you. Maryl, Thank you. Crazy Cat Lady is a very striking plant and pretty late too.

I love Davi's daylilies, you have several today. I got Confessions of a Hemoholic and Davi's Dilemma this spring, hope they bloom for me this year. Actually, I will just be happy I'd they survive this heat. Your Confessions is gorgeous. I think Mean Green is listed as an apricot rather than an orange, mine usually has a little more color than yous, but not a lot. Very pretty either way. I like Boy Crazy too. And Pink Tarantula always grabs my eye.

Thank you, Nancy. They should survive since I expect mine too. We may have to water a time or two, but we had a couple of thunderstorms with lots of rain today , thank goodness! We needed it with the heat,.
