City owned sewer line is disintegrated

mlee1976
last year

For 9 years, we have had surprise overflows of sewer in one of our downstairs toilet. (The toilet closest to our sewer line). We have replaced our line, scoped our line regularly, etc. The issue is the city’s line. We live in an old established neighborhood, in a city that has put very little time, attention or money inti infrastructure improvements. When it happens, they come and vacuum out their line. They have scoped their own line and have admitted the issue is that their line is so old, its disintegrated in parts and has tree roots all through it. Nevertheless, they refuse to do anything else. It hasnt permanently damaged the inside of my home buts gross and irritating. Is there any solution to this? A neighbor mentioned that theres possibly a pump that could be added to my connection at the street to keep the city line from backing up into my house. Any thoughts on that solution?
