Size wise they look the same to me, but what do I know. I am just comparing photos. and no nothing about tile. What size do you think the Starbucks tile is?

I am tiling just the normal 18” except for at the kitchen sink. I envision it going to the ceiling at the sink.

Hard to say exactly, but they are narrower in scale; probably 2" x 10 or 12. Using the 3x12, you will have 6 rows of tiles; if you count 6 rows in the Starbucks photo you will see how it does not go so high.

I guess I’m not understanding your point. Regardless of what tile is used, only 18” will be covered, and it will not go very high, which is common for a backsplash. Are you saying you don't like this size of tile for only 18”, and this size of tile is better suited for larger areas? Isn’t 3” width similar to the typical size used on subway tile backsplash?

I also think the Starbucks tiles look like 2 x 10 or 2 x 8, but just as importantly, they seem to be more reflective than the ones you showed, but that might just be the light coming from the window. Perhaps they are also less flat, and more like handmade tiles. These below are 2.5 x 8, which looks about the size the of ones at Starbucks:

Bingo! Cloe tile is what I’m looking for. Heading down that path now.

I‘ve been reading/looking at Cloe. I love everything about it except for one thing, and it is a big thing. The color. Too much gray. I want color variation, but not so much gray. Instead more off whites and creams but not tan. So I’m right back to where I started with the 2 Daltiles I mention above as they appear to be warmer. Any thoughts? Or suggestions of other tiles?

I don't think the undertone of this tile matches the gray of the Starbucks tile.

Order some tile samples and take them to the Starbucks to compare. Then you'll know for sure. Comparing pictures is a losing game-- real life never looks the same.

Once you have the colour and level of variegation that you like, you should consider lighting. Even if the tile you get is a perfect match to the ones in Starbucks, they won't look the same unless you have similar lighting temperature and intensity.
