Remodeling The Old House Flooring

I’m looking to do the floors on my one-season unheated cabin with vinyl plank but I’m not sure which one to get, as I don’t know what would be better for my situation. Saskatchewan so think -40 to +30).
There’s WPC and SPC (the click together ones), peel and stick, and then just a lay flat one?
It needs to be easy to install as we will be doing it ourselves, we’ve done some remodeling before so I think we’d be ok with any of the options, but it also needs to be durable (3 kids, 2 dogs).

Not going to work with those temperatures. You need wood, carpet, or porcelain tile. .

We did vinyl click together on our summer cabin in Maine. We did it ourselves, it was pretty easy. It's held up through several winters so far. We're zone 5, so not as cold as you get. We just put it in the kitchen, but it has been fine with the chairs being pulled in and out. We got it at home depot and went for the cheaper stuff. I forget the brand.

It was floating, not stuck to the floor in any way (important for us, we were covering up deteriorating tile that would be tough to remove.)

You have a walkout basement with lots of natural light, so it wouldn't seem a problem. But I confess I prefer dark floors to light ones anywhere--except for a small space with light walls where a dark floor would emphasize the smallness of the space. I would avoid using any vinyl directly on a basement floor to avoid mould problems. See this thread for some further comments on basement flooring.

I've been looking for some LVP flooring to do the entire floor of our cabin (approx. 1,000 sq. ft.). It is heated with natural gas so shouldn't be subject to any freezing or extra cold temps. I've looked at a number of brands and took some samples to the cabin but none of the colours were good. Tonight we saw some Monarch LVP at Lowes (Canada). But for the life of me I can't find any reviews or any threads on it. Just Lowes ads every time I Google. I'm having a hard time finding a good colour since it is a log cabin with tongue and groove pine vaulted ceiling. I want a wood floor look but it can't clash with all the other wood. Can vinyl plank flooring take cold temperatures?

The big temperature swings will shorten the life of the vinyl (of any non-stone/tile floor). I would expect 7-10 years out of a floating vinyl floor. The cold winters will probably be too much for an adhesive to deal with. Adhesives become brittle and then crumble below 40F....some can get to 28F....but then you are DONE. It will look and feel like someone put sand underneath your floor. Stone, porcelain tile or a roll-on product that would be used for decks (but you MUST check the VOC content to ensure it can be used indoors).

I will be starting a renovation of my second floor later this year, and will be putting in all new flooring. I really don't want carpeting but, at the same time, I would like something that is less noisy than hardwood. Have been looking at Engineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP). I have LVP in my kitchen and love it, but have heard good things about EVP. Does anyone have experience with one or both, or any recommendations? Thank you!
