Thank you both. I have kept it outside all this past summer which really attributed to it's growth. I'm going to incorporate Al's Gritty Mix to all of my Jade's this upcoming spring so I am looking forward to see how my plants enjoy the change :).

It does sound strange to hear that someone had pictures developed. doesn't it. For me that is a thing of the past. I have my old Olympus SLR film camera in a bag with anti dessicant thingies to keep it from rusting out, don't know what else to do with it. I went digital and have not looked back. It would be nice to have a DSLR camera, but not with my current attention span getting shorter all the time. Like my best friend says, she needs a blonde camera. I need a white haired ole lady camera. Just give me a picture of what I see, and the opportunity to play around with effects, and I'm content. What I like the best is the Kindle Fire HDX with a fairly nice camera in it (does things on the cool side though) and the app lets me upload within minutes to my Flickr account...or to social media or Photobucket or Picasa if I used those services. It is quick and convenient for on-the-fly pictures when I run outside to take a quick shot to reply to a post on this forum. I've done it more this week than any time in the past. Now I am lusting after the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a nice camera (better than Apple's so the reviews indicate). I'm into Android so the camera will be a plus. My BFF (best friend) says she will teach me to text.....I view that with mixed emotions. My new car can answer me when I talk to it, so no need for a Bluetooth earpiece any longer. Technology is grand, isn't it? Esther, I like the big egg gravels. Your smaller hosta look like bantam chickens sitting on eggs. Lovely view out your window. Nice pictures. Pick up a cheap digital camera to get you by for a year or so. You'll be missing all the baby pictures otherwise.

I would sit the pot into a pan or pot saucer with 2 inches or more of water in the bottom. I had about a dozen hosta that I had to keep for about 6 weeks this summer so I put the pots in a chicken watering pan with 3 to 4 inches of water. They grew like crazy. Have to second Mindy on digging the fence into the ground -- we had woodchucks (large family living under the garage) in our old house, and a 4-foot fence around the vegetable garden which wasn't sunk more than a few inches (maybe 6) into the ground. Woodchucks had a field day with the green beans and peppers in particular (for some reason, they were particularly fond of the jalapeno plant ... I think they must have had the makings for margaritas in their den, needed some salsa for the chips, or something...) We found one fat one sitting right smack in the middle of the garden not five minutes after the trapper had left one day, having retrieved his empty trap, inspecting the perimeter of the garden, and declaring "no signs" of digging (no entry, or "plunge" holes inside the garden, either). We never did figure out how he got inside but either he climbed the fence, or he (or she) was exceptionally neat when it came to digging (and they were NOT neat anywhere else -- I had a mound of dirt about a foot high on the side of the garage where the main entrance to the burrow was!) We fought/trapped them for three years. Every year, a new family was back. GOOD LUCK!!!
