I'm a westerner so someone may come along and correct me, but you may want to find time to send in a sample to the Co Extension (the state PSU website seems to be FUBARed today so I can't look), but that seems like mid-onset Bacterial Leaf Scorch symptoms from here. Thanks for the replies. I have included a Photobucket link with some photos. Hopefully this works. If not, I will work on it to fix. The tree is hard to see in some pics due to background greenery, but in other photos, against the sky, it is obvious. There is about a 3' branch hanging just over the top of the fence. The yard is a mess as we are killing and removing everything for new landscaping (which may be influenced by the presence of this oak). But, it gives you some idea of the area the oak could shade. The dirt shown is where I had hoped to plant a lawn. Our house is about 37' away from the fence (to the right, when pic is shot down the fence line). Perhaps the oak may provide some benefit. The oak is somewhat downwind of a much bigger pine tree, which drops debris in our yard. One long branch of the oak has already made contact with the limbs of the pine. One other thing. I don't think we will be here longer than 8 - 10 years. How big will this oak be in that time? How old does the oak look now. About 17' feet tall, and maybe 15' wide. I can prune the oak on my side, but once it grows tall enough, I won't be able to reach it, and then what? Thank you. Oh Citrus, how sad..Most likely your citrus are windburned. A 3 hour drive is a long way to go, especially for plants.. You should have set them horizonally, then covered back of truck for protection.. Were your citrus in a building our outdoors? If they were inside, it's possible they're sunburned too. The good news is, new growth will form..sun/windburned leaves drop as new leaves come in. One other thing..plants shouldn't be watered by a schedule..Once a wk, twice a wk, once a month..Water when soil dries. Overwatering is the number 1 killer..Give them a drink when they need it, not every Sat, Sun or Mon. The larger the pot, the longer soil stays wet/moist. What size pots are your citrus in? Is the soil well-draining? Apparently, your citrus are outdoors, right? Depending on the location they were kept at the nursery, makes a difference what type of sun they're in now..For the time being, I'd place in a semi-shady spot..Don't fertilize. If you use Superthrive, give a dose per plant. Once you notice new growth, (leaves,) place in a brighter spot. Good luck..I don't think there's an instant cure for sun/windburned plants, if so, I'd love to know what it is..Toni

OK...so this didn't work out at all. First and foremost, you need to find out if the SPECIES of wood is a MATCH. Then you have to check to see if the CUT is correct (quarter vs rift, etc). These two things can radically change the appearance of a stain. Then you have to find out if they used an OIL BASED finish or a water based finish. Oil based finishes will amber (turn yellow) as they age/dry. When they offered a stain patch for you to view, did they apply a single coat of finish to compare the new to the old? Think back. If you don't remember seeing it then it didn't happen = not the right way to go about it. Now that you have discovered the finish (oil vs. water) you now have to find out the GLOSS LEVEL. That 'dull' look could be a matte or a satin finish. The grit in the finish can be roughed up and a new coat of poly applied with the proper gloss level. But this all started with the STAIN. And if the STAIN isn't the right colour (which can be deathly difficult to match...depending on wood species, light exposure and poly finish on the original) then you have to remove everything down to raw wood and start again. Please post photos. Especially any in-progress photos would be very helpful. And please find out if the Build company has used a PROFESSIONAL hardwood flooring installer vs. using a 'guy' who ALSO does the flooring for them.
