Can someone help me identify these little cacti?
Comments (6)Let me start of with, i hate those fake straw flower ... you can leave it on if you want, but i would take it off I have no idea what the one in the back is. The one with the red "flower" looks like some kind of cereus (very broad, i know) and the one in the front with the pink looks like parodia scopa. Most cacti get very large . Also your soil looks like it could use ALOT more drainage. Add like 50% more inorganic materials such as perlite or pumice....See MoreCan you help me identify my cacti & succulents?
Comments (24)I love it! Just a thought, does the clay pots still retain the "breathability" of the terra cotta material? I mean the perks of growing in clay pots is because these "pores" within the pot breathe air to the roots, painting over them kind of beats that advantage away. I saw something similar to yours on west elm and they are not painted, but it definitely does not have the minimalistic appeal as yours do....See MoreSomeone help me ID my cacti/succulents please?
Comments (6)Sadly, just because a bagged soil is called 'cactus soil' that doesn't necessarily mean it's any good for cacti and succulents as we've said many times before, it's just sales blurb. They will die in that mix whatever their size, large or small, the result will be the same. Can't tell what the planter/s look like size wise in relation to the plants or whether it's one big planter, but whichever, there's way too much unused 'peaty' type compost. It will cause one of two things to happen...if you water thoroughly which they will need (but they also need to drain properly) it will stay wet and they'll rot. Failing that, the soil may become hydrophobic, you will think you are watering it but it will stay dry at the roots, as spray bottles don't water efficiently. Please do a search for a more suitable mix using the search box a the top, your plants will thank you in the end. Gill...See MorePlease help identify my cacti
Comments (1)Could you post over on the Cactus and Succulent forum? You'll get a reply there. I'm guessing mammalaria something, but others know much more than I do. You didn't ask, but I'll take the liberty of saying it needs to be repotted higher in the pot so it can get more light. Pot size is probably ok. The experts on the cactus & succulent forum will recommend commercial cactus/succulent soil mixed 50/50 with perlite....See MoreAmanda Z
