Proportion, yes, but also, Ravmd, what feeling are you going for? I've seen a wonderfully appealing wall, shorter than yours, but with traditional old hutches framing a single set of doors. The home I'm remembering is an old-fashioned English style, with the doors framing and concentrating a very pretty view into the garden. The kitchen was basically old white cabinetry and walls and wood floors, but looked cozy as well as bright and fresh. OTOH, looking out a very wide span of windows like Julie's would give your kitchen an entirely different feel. The associations that hop to my mind from the past are of connection to large living patios and pools, or maybe a panoramic view to the horizon (lots of those in Southern California). BTW, is your desirable view broad, or would editing out parts improve it? Are there any privacy issues? For what's in the picture you posted, my thought was keep the windows and the symmetry (I like them) but bring the upper units down to join the counters for a hutch/display rather than work counter look.

I am remodeling our basement and planning to put in a wet bar. The wet bar area is in a corner. The left side of the wall is 52" and right side is 70". Both walls open to other areas so the cabinets can't go beyond the mentioned dimensions I have the electrician put in the outlets for fridge and microwave. The outlets are about 16" from the left end of the left wall. The plumbing is on the right end of the left wall. I would like to put the sink (probably a 14.4" round one) at the corner. I would also like to have a microwave shelf in the upper cabinet. I can't figure out the layout due to the tight space and the existing outlets/plumbing locations. The off the shelf corner base cabinets are at least 36"x36", which leaves me 16" for the fridge. However the fridges are usually about 20". I am really stuck. Please help!

Do you use it as a bar? There doesn’t Seem to be space to mix & serve drinks. Do you need a place for folks to gather? Place drinks? Have snacks?. Where does the bartender sit or stand? i think you need to focus on the purpose of the room and then decide on a decorating style. My bar, for example, in the pics, was going for a traditional cozy but functional pub atmosphere. Once you settle in on what you want, the rest should come naturally.

Bathroom vanities aren't that deep, usually about 21 inches. Kitchen cabinets are deeper, about 25 inches. Do you want it to be closer to 27 inches deep? Home Depot and Lowes have base kitchen cabinets in "unfinished beech". They come in multiple sizes, some for a sink, some with drawers so you can mix and match and they are ready to be stained or painted any color. They're about $80-$110 depending on the size and if it has drawers.
