Backsplash ideas

I'm looking for suggestions not done sampling but here's either " white or gray " glossy subway tile vs the herribone? Would the herribone take away from countertops & or will be dated soon? The countertops are Quartzsite kinda a grayish blue hue ? I'll see if I can get better pics. Thank you to everyone who has helped & bearing w me I'm very overwhelmed if u haven't noticed by my post's already !

If you are overwhelmed, why rush it? The backsplash can wait. We moved into the new build end of January and I only made my backsplash selection 3 weeks ago and I'm waiting for my builder's tile guy to come back. I ended up with a totally different tile, compared to what I would have picked if I had been rushed into a decision 6 months ago.

You're going to have a fabulously gorgeous kitchen. Those counters are awesome. Very nice choice. I love the herringbone very much.....but I worry that the sample you have has too much colour variation with your counters. With that in mind I went over to the Tilebar site to see what else they have in herringbone. Lots of choices there.....

This tile comes in many colours - I don't know if this is the right blue for your space but this one always jumps out at me. Love it and the bit of ombre colouring adds some interest. Not too much colour variation but enough that it isn't just a monotone wall of tile.

I like this mini herringbone with smaller individual tiles doubled up. Really nice. And a light grey grout with this would work with your space.

If you want the marble look that you've got in your sample then maybe choose a different one that is more white, less colour variation than the one you're showing.

There are other shapes you could consider instead of just a plain subway (and if you do choose subway choose something more like 2 X 10 or 3 X 12, instead of the standard 3 X6)

These are also from Tilebar. A few different shapes and these come in several colours as well. It is worth ordering samples (5 for $5) and seeing them in your space.

Here is your herringbone tile under the cabinets. It would not be my choice

This smaller mosaic herringbone is brighter in appearance and IMO would be a better selection for your kitchen.

If I were going to use Subway Tile, I would not select the narrow style you have as a sample. I would select the standard 3x6 size and have it installed in the layout you see below.

It is perfection! The grout lines completely disappear so the blue grey color of the tile is the star. (Well and that stunning marble!) The white shelves look great too! Looks like you are on the home stretch with lighting and the last finishing touches. I am looking forward to the final reveal. I like it when people do a new thread for their reveal and add all the kitchen materials used and lots of photo. Of course put the word “Reveal” in the title, but maybe add a little description of your kitchen too. Something like… White marble and light blue kitchen or Namibian Sky Marble kitchen, etc…. 😍

Something close to the wall color pictured. You can always change the wall color after you find tile you like. The wall color doesn't need to be identical to the tile color, they just need to have the same undertone. There are hundreds of different paint colors. Bring home some tile samples and see what appears to work.

maybe green ...cant say the blue in the demo kitchen does much. with the large sized doors and glass fronts the tile should have some dimension / variation / or interest w the color/tone or something....... Its a big wall of white and the black counter really isnt a statement thats why I guess too pale a color like the blue just doesnt work that well in my opinion. Get to a tile store / bring samples/ maybe look for less simple/plain I guess is how you'd say it. Not sure what you like .

Following because my countertops look just like yours! But we only have half the kitchen done, so I’m still in the pondering stage as far as backsplash goes. So far my favorite has been a marble subway with very little veining (might have been thassos marble). I have a lot of other things going on so I’ll be trying to keep my backsplash on the boring side :)

I think the gray is more elegant …will allow the counter to be what it is …without competition..the white is safer…non competing..

@BeverlyFLADeziner Wow! Ok you definitely changed my mind on that choice now that I'm seeing it !! How did you do that so cool ! Thank you so very much for actually putting together that for me along w choices !! That's so kind of you ! I'm rebuilding after a bad house fire & my husband was Injured badly so I haven't been thinking too straight but I need to get our house ready ! Everything is through insurance so I have no time to waste! They want answers for my floors now& I have no clue what I'm doing ? I have redoak hardwood's Any color suggestions

@mvcanada Thank you !! I agree w you the herribone won't look right! I saw a picture of it actually laid out from @BeverlyFLADeziner she was nice enough to give me a visual! Thank you for all of your samples you put together! I really appreciate it ! So very nice of you ! I'll have to look at the tile bar? I never heard about that!

Your counter is so gogeous! I would not do a pattern in the backsplash at all, but something that will read as a solid color overall, be it porcelain or glass. As much as I love blue, I probably wouldnt try to use it-too difficult to get blues to coordinate. I would try a darker color from your stone in porcelain - maybe a subway or 4-6” square with matching grout so no pattern stands out. See what you think of that.

I also love the current color of your floors and would leave them that color.

The “ safer”white would be my choice…so changing wall color will be easier in the future…..as i am not in favor of the gray walls that are so over used these days…and also think it will reflect the natural light a little more …. to brighten up the space…
