Maintenance for a salt water pool

Clinton Coe
last year

I live about an hour north of Dallas, TX. I’m in the process of putting in an inground gunite pool and have chosen to go with salt chlorination.

The standard decking material in this area is travertine but I chose to go with tumbled marble for the coping and decking and all of the tile used will be glass.

From everything I’ve read, the marble should hold up much better than travertine since its not as porous but can anyone confirm that? Are there any steps I should take in addition to sealing the marble to prevent or limit erosion or discoloration from the salt?

Similar question for the tile. Its obviously going to get hazy from the calcium in the water but are there any steps I can take to limit the calcium buildup and what’s the best, least caustic way to clean it?

And just a side note, I’m doing all wood and synthetic wicker furniture to prevent any issues of salt reacting with metal furniture.

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.
