Flooring ideas Schuler cabinet in cappuccino on cherry

We love the Schuler cabinet in cappuccino and are thinking of installing them in our kitchen but we are having a difficult time picking flooring. I’m trying to avoid a complete rustic look. I like contemporary, and now I’m second guessing my cabinet choice. We were thinking dark floors since the cabinets are lighter, but nothing seems to fit. Any advice and pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Your cabinets have a slight pink undertone. I use a lot of pink and purple undertones in my home and always like a the way walnut plays with these colors - has a bit of pink/red, but not overwhelming.

Are you redoing all of your floors? Have you considered linoleum. It is a great natural material.

@Lisa Binder I'm so sorry to hear of your problems. It's almost a relief to me personally to hear stories like yours since I was so close to wanting to go with Schuler. I had read a few reviews similar to yours concerning delivery or product issues that scared me away, but to be honest, all of the lower-priced cabinetry lines have similar reviews. It's very, very common to see defective products delivered that customers have difficulty getting warranty service on. Keep at it, and hopefully someday soon you will get recourse. You might even consider filing a claim legally against the company if it comes to that. You have to go up into very high-cost cabinetry like Plato Woodworking, William Ohs, or Jay Rambo before you see 100% satisfaction guaranteed in both quality and longevity. You probably got a lot of linear footage of cabinetry for $50K from Schuler, and that same amount of cabinetry would have been more than double and possibly triple or quadruple in most of those lines I mentioned above.

Kompy the Wheat Glazed looks gorgeous! Definately better than just the wheat! You may remember the issues I had with my Medallion Wheat cabinets... now I really wish I had gone with the glaze. marcy - I had horrible sapwood in my wheat cabinets. I do not recommend the wheat without the glaze. The wheat is a very light, almost natural stain, the sapwood is very pronounced. You can see how light they were in this photo: You can really see the sapwood once the wood darkens: The wheat has settled into a nice brownish red, but we had to replace all of the doors above (except the left door above the fridge - I kinda liked that one) due to sapwood.

Well done. I love your choices, it all came together absolutely beautiful- so warm and homey, I imagine it blends so well with your vintage home. No offense to white kitchen with marblelook counter fans- it’s just so refreshing to see something completely different. I’ll admit my own bias, about a year and a half ago, I redid my kitchen with medium stain quartersawn oak and black granite counters, and I think I love it more every day. I do love soapstone, didn’t use it in my kitchen as I couldn’t get a slab big enough for a seamless island - but I did use soapstone remnants in a bathroom, and I agree with your description- it’s amazingly soft and silky compared to other stones.

Looks like they show it with a fairly dark wood:

I think the sheen on the floors keeps it from looking too rustic with the cabinets that look very matte.

Sorry, but none of the current flooring options look great with the cabinet; keep in mind the undertone of the cabinetry when selecting flooring.

I do not see what ypu are wanting for style . If contemorary is your plan none of the above. IMO pick the floor then work on choosing cabinets with a slab door and a simple finish with no grain and I would probably not do wood at all.

i like the aurora oak by coretec ..your lighter option on the left. then go with light counters. long term i think the lighter looks [ floor and counter] with the cabs will be appreciated more. remember you usually have mats and/or a runner or two. put your hand over the pergo and the middle yellowish one and you see the tiny bit of red in the aurora and its pleasing subtle blend w your cabs yet distinct enough. good luck the aurora is a beautiful floor.

Hello, I too have the Cherry Cappuccino Stain Cabinetry by Schuler and I'm also at the phase of refinishing my existing red oak (gunstock) stain hardwood floors to coordinate with the Cappuccino stain. As fate would have it, I ran across a 2 YEAR OLD HOUZZ discussion titled " https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5932138/medallion-schuler-cabinets-vs-dura-supreme-vs-kraftmaid"; And; feel in love with the flooring choice of the host and thought everyone would be interested!

Hi Yelena. We went with Coretec Ravenswood, we did not get the Schuler cabinets though. We couldn’t agree on a flooring with those cabinets.

We love them. They are very neutral, i do not see red or yellow undertones. Our cabinets will be installed at the end of October so the kitchen has our old floor in it still. What other choices Are you considering? Are you going with the Schuler cabinets?

We are going with the cherry cappuccino and the Ravenswood above. I debated flooring forever but Ravenswood seemed to contrast enough with it and was mostly neutral.

Hi! Love the Ravenswood! We’re still waiting on cabinetry, prob won’t start demo until 2023. It’s so nice to see stained cabinetry. Not sure which ones you went with but it goes really well with the flooring. What counters are you doing?

Hi! We are now considering Schuler cherry cappuccino cabinets. Could you please tell us if your cabinets are darkening/oxidizing? We like the lighter color and graining of the cherry wood, but are worried it will darken/oxidize significantly over the years. We would greatly appreciate any info or thoughts about this.

Oops, I see your earlier response for river rock on maple - I don't see that in Schuler, did you go with a different brand of cabinet? We are still having a tough time with the cherry cappuccino because we are worried about it blending in with our other woods. We want a light-to medium natural wood, but with graining (which seems hard to find). Your last images look great. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. We went with Wellborn cabinets. I loved the schuller Cappuccino but I didn’t want a dark floor, which dark was the only shade that didn’t seem to clash. A friend of mine has the Schuler with black floors and it looks amazing. This all can be frustrating for sure!
