When you first notice rust spots, pick off the leaves and either burn them or seal them in a plastic bag and discard them. Keep the soil around the plants free of debris, and keep the garden weed free. Spread a thick layer of mulch under the plants to prevent last year’s spores from re-emerging. Bright colors. I think your brown woods and gray flooring clash with each other. How about painting the coffee table? Maybe gray to pick up the tones in the flooring, or something unexpected, like yellow, orange, or acid green. If that's not your cup of tea, how about a navy printed throw and some coordinating (NOT matching) throw pillow? Carry the idea over to the mantle with funky candle holders or maybe a mini collection of blue and white vases or jars. The mirror is ripe for DIY adventures. Look for videos about 'dipped' mirrors and painted mirrors. The light fixture is dated. There are some great DIY videos that show how to make a modern bamboo 'basket' light fixture out of dollar store wastebaskets. A can of spray paint (gold, silver, or an exciting accent color) could really bring the whole thing home. Hello! I’m gutting my 1 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn (read: small) and plan to install engineered hardwood floors throughout. I’m wondering what color white would be best to use in my entry way. My living room will be painted dark (something like Behr cracked pepper). I have good natural light, west/northwest exposure, and am feeling overwhelmed with my google searches!
