11 ft Feature Wall decor ideas
Hi all,
Looking to decorate this large wall in my condo. It's very visible from the entryway, living room and dining room. It's 11 ft high and about 5-1/2 ft wide. What's challenging here is that there's another narrow wall adjacent to it that is the first wall you see when you walk in. Love to hear your suggestions!
The pics are out of order but the first one below is the narrow wall you'd see when you first walk in. The 2nd pic below is of the whole entryway so you can see the entire area.
The 3rd pic below is the big feature wall that I need help with. I'll happily take suggestions for that narrow wall, too. I'd like to make it flow somehow since it's almost one big wall, in a way.

last yearThe area to the left of the wall is the beginning of the hallway. I added another pic so you can see more of that space. Ignore the junk on the floor, sorry.

Comments (6)Have you seen mrslimestone's kitchen? I love how her cabs go up to the ceiling (link below), but her ceiling height might be only 10'. Another nice look is having the cabinets go up to 96" then have a shelf run around the perimeter of the kitchen above them, like this: Someone else posted a picture of their wall cabinets, which were 60" tall, with 11' ceilings and they looked really nice too. I haven't seen any examples, though, of staggered cabinets when the ceilings are that high. Comments (9)What a great space! I don't know how creative you are...but I could see building a grid work art piece from PVC pipe and painting it with a shiny acrylic red to mount on that wall. Comments (16)I agree with Idaclaire. I have a very large coffee table and I do a seasonal coffee table vignette - spring, summer, fall, christmas and then winter. If you google coffee table vignettes or sofa tablescapes it may spark your imagination. I just go to Home Sense and pick up a couple of things each season. You could anchor it with a plant and then add favourite things around it. you may already have some things that you can start playing with. Comments (4)Not sure the reasoning even behind niches in the main living areas if that is where you are speaking of. But if these are fro the main living area I will say the answer is it depends, on you home layout, you furniture choices, your wall widths (think artwork, tables, etc), future room layout, resale.. you could do something like a wainscot around those 3 walls on that side. Or, some type of wall trim design. (see pic #2 above)
this is your front door? will your HOA allow you to do something more attractive?
if not, I know there are some DIY ways you could add simple wood trim to that flat door and give it more of a look like this (which you would then paint).
I love this color.
You could think about changing out the other doors too to something w/panels. ( just look up, "how to add trim to slab doors" )

Get the rustoleum metallic spray paint, tape off around the hinges, and spray them a matte black or ORB.Get a new front door handle and other door handles to upgrade your look from those builder basic gold door knobs!
I'd also paint the bi fold doors and add some diff knobs. (or, get the ones Like I did)I got the solid pine bi folds from home depot, Painted them myself, and added crystal knobs.
paint could go a long way with upping your appeal around that area.don't forget some type of rug too
hard to say w/o seeing the entire room. when you have a chance to straighten up a bit, snap another pic and lets see what kind of tweaking you need.
In the interim, see if you have any wall art, area rugs, or something else you can use.
