Need suggestions for furnishing a living room

Hi All - i am trying to furnish the living room of my apartment and am struggling to put a practical design together. One side of the living room has sliding glass doors which faces out into the sea (see pic). Living room size is 294 x 595cm. The entrance to the kitchen is on one side of the wall. Question is how should I furnish the room so that I can take full advantage of the sea view and yet be able to entertain guests or for quiet movie nights. I would want to at the very least have a nice comfy sofa. Thanks in advance !

WOW fab view . Can we get a bit more info from you . What style do you like? How many seats do you need usually ? Where is the TV hookup since this appears to be an apartment. What colors do you like ?

I’m into contemporary styling and looking for something functional. I would at least want a nice comfy sofa for lounging and maybe 2 chairs and perhaps an ottoman or small bench for guest seating. Earthy colours would suit me. I haven’t decided on tv placement but i guess it works best if it’s on the perpendicular wall next to the windows. Happy to take suggestions. Thanks!

I think your room is perfectly suited to such a layout. Even a small bar cart or wine chest on that end of the room would help define the space. It's a look I would have done in my own living room had I been able to bear the thought of giving up my very comfortable sofa where I sit in front of my windows every day!

congrats on your new condo! she is lovely in and out. Well, I am sure we could help you make the inside look more like the outside. but i have to say the inside looks just like newly built houses. so that is more your choice i think. and perhaps you just want to use what you have and add a few pieces that will give you more of the look you want, but it does not have to match the exterior. you mentioned a lot of pics from around the world, I am guessing you want to know how to use. I have collected some idea. the one thing that is universal is using the same color frames. you can use varied but you have to have more skills to make it work.in a black frameanother external frame main subject in center bits of subject around.this is a set of family pics in a format.

Thanks! I'm hoping it will be a cute space!! That doorway opposite the doorway is a little redundant, but it leads into the entryway/front door, so I'm not sure how it would feel walking into the back of a sofa. But maybe I am wrong! The condo is a converted 2-bedroom, where they turned the dining room into a living room, and the living room into a 2nd bedroom, which explains why the space is so awkward! What would anyone think about doing a sofa along the window/in front of radiator, and putting a chair or pouf under the TV (between built-in and bottom doorway)? Or a sofa along the right-side wall (where I have the random door/beach photo leaning) with a comfy accent chair top left next to window? Would something like this work at all or am I crazy?

Going with the suggestion for TV placement, you can do 2 sofas,

and a chair that swivels

I'm guessing that once seated, you don't see the ocean?.

This space is 9.5 ft x not quite 20 ft. IMO no 2 sofas will fit .

I was thinking a 3 seater sofa plus two armchairs/swivel chairs and a bench?

What about the other part of the space -- i.e. the deeper space with the terrace? How does that figure into your plans?

That would be the dining area which leads out to the bigger terrace. I will put a long dining table there, and some outdoor furniture for the terrace

Gorgeous! I'd be inclined to have the seating area in the 'terraced area', with dining closer to the kitchen.

But before I saw your add'l photos, I was thinking of perhaps this layout.

Yes I did think about that layout but wasn’t so sure about having the tv in the middle of the room with back of the tv and cables exposed to the dining area. Would limit ‘traffic’ flow if there are guests over ?

Your have two focal points -window and TV. So place all seating furniture facing both and not blocking nice view. Leave walking way behind the sofa.

Some option with sofa, couple chairs and ottoman-bench layout

You can play with this set as you want. You can place bench along the window if you have enough room. Or place chairs on both sides of the door.
