Please Help me Choose a Pro Range - Bluestar, NXR, Verona
Comments (22)Great point - Thanks so much for that idea- i will need to check and see if the item could be returned locally (in the worst case scenario like it being a total dud). I will call the local Costco and inquire - I wonder if they have ever addressed this before. I did review the written warranty from Bluestar and it says something to the effect: "warranty valid for all items purchased in US or Canada. It is looking like difference it will be the same range (RCS model) and after tax, etc would be approx $450 more to buy in the states. Not a huge amount but enough to make a difference and have me consider Canadian option (assuming it goes easily and relatively pain free). I will keep checking but have to pull the trigger eventually ... Don't want to be one of those who come back in 2 years saying "ok, I'm almost ready to buy" ...lol I did look on ebay and found 1 or 2 BS ranges. For anyone else thinking of doing this, beware of a company hawking BS ranges under the name if Markdown Madness - check some if their reviews on Merchant Circle. There is a similar outfit in my area (somehow associated with this Markdown Madness outfit) and they seem shady to say the least. 1 thing I think these shady ebay sellers do is sell a ton of simple items (shoes, lunch boxes, whatever) to overcome any negatives they may have selling high ticket scratch and dent items. At least that is the only way I can imagine a company maintaining a good ebay rating while having an "F" rating at the BBB and terrible reviews online (like Markdown Madness). In other words, if you are buying a "new" or "floor sample" item from ebay or craigslist, make sure you are buying from an actual dealer or personal seller and not from some guys using a storage garage to sell potentially non-warrantied items. Good luck getting any money back from people like this no matter what assurances they give you. Not saying you can't find a deal this way but you have to ask yourself if you have the capacity to deal with a total lemon (financially and emotionally). Unfortunately people looking for deals usually can't afford to buy another appliance if the "deal" goes bad. If it seems to good to be true - it probably is....See MorePlease help me choose slabs of white quartzite
Comments (23)Update: My designer and I went to view 4 & 5. While she agreed the patterning on 5 was interesting, she thought the tonal variations of the shades of white in 4 was better. 4 was also DH's favorite. There are 15 contiguous numbered slabs of #4, so DH and I made an appt. with the stone yard to go pull out more slabs over lunch tomorrow. Although I expect the slabs to be similar, there may be some variations that make some slabs more pleasing to us than others. I am hoping the yellowish area on the far right of the top slab does not appear on all the slabs in that lot. Maybe some of the lower slabs have a little more variation in the lines too. Kiffgirl, I looked at Marmol too. They have some nice cross cut WM now, which I considered before deciding on the vein cut. BKW, we do not have any 90 degree turns to deal with. The 2 perimeter runs will be separated by a French door to the side yard. (No seams required - yay!) Taking stripes around a corner was certainly something I worried about when we were originally planning an L configuration....See MorePlease help me choose a faucet!
Comments (16)Nesting12, My cabinets will be dark brown, New Venetian Gold granite and brushed nickel pulls. The link below will show you the exact cabinet however the granite and backsplash have changed, I just don't have photos of them. I personally prefer the high arc to the bridge faucet. I actually went and bought the American Standard Pekoe and am now wondering, after seeing the pulldown in person (only the extender variety was on display), whether it is the right one for my kitchen. They didn't have the Hansgrohe in stock and it could take a few weeks, after my kitchen is finished before it comes in. Another question- if all my appliances are stainless, do I need to have a stainless faucet or can I go with chrome? Thank you to you all for your comments and help! Comments (22)I'm happy to say that as of today I'm the proud owner of two 5-gallon Grand Dames. I looked for bare-root plants but couldn't find any. When I heard that a local nursery had it in containers I couldn't resist even though they cost over $50. Okay, I also now have an own-root Snowbird from Burling and so didn't have to decide between the two roses after all. Since I had already run amok, I then decided to order another rose from Burling 'The Faun'. After three years of nail-biting I decided to finally get rid of Spice which had really suffered in the drought and basically only looked good for about five minutes in spring. I had 'The Faun' before but in poor soil, and I want to give this pretty rose a second chance. In order to accommodate two 'Grand Dame' roses I removed a really substandard 'Intrigue' which didn't have much more than one cane. With these four great new roses now I really can't wait for spring! Ingrid...See MoreBenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14)
