Why did you choose vinyl shake for anything on this house it was the wrong choice IMO.Why storm windows instaed of just good double paned new windows . Where is the other door with the sidelight? The stone for the steps is all wrong with the house . I am not sure what you want from us now. The gray of the shakes is not a good color either . I guess I need a bit more info .

Thanks Patricia. the vinyl was there when I bought my home. at this point it will have to stay. the things I want to paint are windows doors, sofits, fascia, trim, corbel supports on the underside of the roof eaves also metal porch railings and screen doors too.

The interior of the exterior windows are nice mostly non painted wood I love them. I do not want to have vinyl windows or some other composite material. I love wood and want to keep the character of the original house. I also need to paint the concrete white blocks at the basement foundation.

The last picture shows the side door underneath the carport you can see the new light.

the third last picture shows the side door closer up.

I would try to match the white concrete blocks to the brick, as good as you can. I actually like the shakes and the color of them. Since pictures dont show it, can you please tell us the color of your roof?

I'd use a rich burgundy rust for the trims... something to enhance the deepest tones in the brick color. Paint out the white with that color as well. It would compliment the gray.

The roof is brown as in the picture below.

Thanks for info. Try the darkest, reddest brick color on all the items other than the white painted areas. If it is too bright, go one shade darker.

For the white painted areas, choose the dark brown from the bricks. It's supposed to be unobtrusive.

I agree, and that is the same color brown, I would use for the trim also. You have several colors going on now, and a bit less would be better.

do you have a colour sample you could show me from holland lac fine paints of eirope or sherman williams? then i can get one myself and explore all the suggested options from all you helpfull“ people.
