I would also spray paint the star a rusty red so it will show more. It really doesn't stand out on the brick in it's current color which looks more copper in the picture. (the copper is pretty but you need red there) I would also consider opening the bed up in front of the stairs to add flowers as well. The house is beautiful, but the landscape is what's lacking. I would actually post a thread in the landscape forum to get some ideas of how you can build the landscape up a little. Put a plan together and just do a little bit every season..

I have been thinking about another idea. How about just framing in the built-ins and drywalling. Do a deeper cabinet (if needed). Buy really good quality wood doors unfinished from Conestoga or ----. Leave a descent amount of exposed drywall wall section to paint. The doors stay the cabin color-ish (inset ?) but the "wall" section color can change easily whenever you choose to remodel. The advantage is that you can stay somewhat in budget while at the same time getting a better quality door in more style choices. You can get a slightly deeper storage area. You have more options when decorating around the built-ins as the wall portion can be easily and cheaply painted. Since it is not a lot of wall you could also get away with more colors as an accent feature. Basically you have something like this at the start (couldn't find a good picture). Then, the doors can be either partial overlay or inset. Not good pictures but I hope you get the idea. EDITED To Add...I think mirrored glass doors with matching cabin wood on the frames would look very incredible in that section of the home...especially with the wall section painted a nice color. Or, just hinge mirrors for doors. Okay, I know this will break the bank but these custom live edge with or without resin inserts are very cool. Sorry for this looonnng post but I'm having a hard time coming to terms with IKEA in that area of this very cool cabin.

Need photos and more information

We are wanting to paint the side on our house but leave the brick as is for economical reasons. I am stumped on what colors to choose that will also compliment the brown brick and roof. I am wanting to do a darker siding color and a light trim color. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate!!
