I think I planted my rooted cutting too deep
Comments (2)I wanted it at the original level, but the soil kind of fell off from around parts of it, hope it didn't rip any roots out. I expected to see more of a root ball as big as it is. You have no idea how I babied that thing all winter. Who knows what's in my soil? I dug a hole, broke up the dirt and planted it. That is a horrid place with dryness in the summer, drains very well, and I'm running out of places to put things until I get my next project underway which will mean rototilling. That will help a lot. The soil was nice and moist and broke up well. We'll just have to see how it does, sure hope it makes it. I was tired from other digging and just wanted to get it over with. I'm not used to this at all. I'd better get used to it, huh? Thank you for giving me hope about that. It has a lot of leaves on it, probably needs all it can get though....See MoreNew grout, too light (gray), can I 'dye' it charcoal/black?
Comments (7)Yes, you can, and regardless of what the color is now, or what you want it to be, it can be done, and relatively easily. You said you've done some research and found the reference to Aquamix's colorants. They're the best there is. I have a link to where you can buy them on line, as well as a forum thread that gives explicit directions on using them. Here's the url to buy them on line: http://www.1877floorguy.com/grcopr.html And below is the link to the forum thread. Comments (17)I asked my tiler which he would rather do: remove the old grout and re-grout, or use the colorant. He said re-grouting would be easier for him (remember, he's doing this for free). We saw him do it, and it wasn't as difficult as I had thought. They just took it out with a utility knife. They did about 50% of the floor, since we still had stuff on it that was too hard to move at the time. I bought a $400 Fein oscillating tool for the job, and I plan to remove the rest myself. The other argument is that you could apply the colorant yourself, one section at a time, without paying for more labor. When I do stuff myself, I take forever, but I do it about a million times more carefully than any worker seems to care to do. Grout seems to be the black hole of flooring knowledge. Daltile is a very good high-line supplier, but another tile supplier was able to solve most of our problems (mainly, finding the Hydroment grout samples there). At first we had a lot of effluorescence, but they had the product that removes it effectively there as well. Good luck!...See MoreHelp! I think I tipped my mango tree too early
Comments (5)I agree that would be too low to cut it for me. You top it where you want the first side branches to start. However, it should still grow fine and since it's a seedling you don't have a graft to worry about. The lower branches will drag on the ground, but maybe there is a way to prune to correct that later. I don't know....See Moresfranick
