Ensuite tile and finish help pls! Decision overload
Comments (18)OntarioMom, What flooring do you have in your Master? What kind of design/decorating theme do have going on in there? Is this a reno in an existing house, or a new build? You sort of have two different themes going on with the marble in BR and more rustic brick in Bedroom. I wouldn't worry too much about accent tile until you've decided on floor tile and wall tile in BR. Do you have an inspiration photo? I know what it's like to be at this stage, you're juggling several different things all at once. Personally, I think you either have to pick a counter material, and start from there...or a floor tile and start with that. I started my present BR looking at tiles, but when I picked my granite, things had to change, and I went in a completely different direction. As for your FP surround, I don't think it really has to tie in with anything in your BR, but if you're looking for continuity then tell us what your style is, and perhaps an inspiration photo or two... I actually have a very similar problem in my LR. I have Butterfly Blue granite on my pony wall and currently have a temporary Oak mantle and surround (that I bought off Craigslist), and some slate looking floor tiles laid down temporarily as a hearth. We have been looking at this unfinished hole with a non-working FP for oh about 7 years now...So, maybe I'm the last person to be giving advice, I seem to have no issue with waiting until the perfect solution magically appears! LOL You can see that I like Blue too!...See MoreWall colour transition to bedroom and ensuite
Comments (9)No, I haven't chosen the bedding yet. I thought I should wait until I figured out what the wall colours should be. I would probably lean toward grey blues or blue grays. Mt Etna is nice. I would not have thought that blue greys had a hint of green.. very interesting .. Halcyon in Benjamin Moore. Grey Stone in For Love of Gray. Coastal Pleasure. Another question: Do most people agree that I should not continue the lighter hue of atmospheric blue through into the bedroom and bathroom? I am no designer but thought that might be too much of the same throughout....See MoreStill struggling with ensuite tile...
Comments (10)thinkdesignlive, thank you. I'm embarrassed to send photos! The mirror is the old one and my plan is to replace with wall to wall mirror, no frame. The pendants were a huge disappointment as they are not bright enough, but we replaced the pot lights (for the same reason)(they were too high up), and I thought a little 'bling' would be nice. Husband is firm on not tackling that again! So, the plan is a plain mirror, and perhaps a better paint color, although I have looked at a million and painted 2 times. First was Intense White, which looked very blueish/greenish, The master is shades of grey. Thank you for agreeing that painting the tile would be a mistake....See MoreNeed help with Master Ensuite Reno
Comments (5)I would do your trim in the white wisp and the walls in the New Hope Grey. Carry the colors into the rug and do white with grey accents for towels etc. Inspos below...See MoreKristy D
