What to do for accent wall and color in this neutral room
Comments (13)Got it. (or so I think) You can get a lot of color with throws, pillows, plants, lamps, art, books..narrow on whether you like solids or patterns speak to you most, and which ones..from my experience the more you mix, in terms of both colors and patterns, (takes some basic rules to follow, the rest are easier to break)) the better and easier and more fun it becomes, but takes time and figuring out what you want, whether the room is happy with what you want, and feeling when to stop or when to continue. Texture is also very important. Different surfaces will reflect light differently, so even same color won't read as same. Seems like a lovely house..love your floors and wall color. Very versatile, great to work with. Won't be boring-you just see it empty right now. As said upthread. already. It won't be....See MoreLiving room troubles! Keep it neutral or go with color?
Comments (7)No a pro. I like your neutral options and usually stay clear of pieces that have a shelf life, like en trend shearling chairs that will need expensive cleaning treatments (particularly with muddy, oily paws). The green chair is nice and would coordinate beautifully with your warm leather sofa. However, if you are going for lighter, creamier and more neutral, I would lean in to that heavily and keep the chairs, art and accessories light. Play with the textures so it isn't so flat and with neutrals natural materials are the most beautiful. Your rug and sofa anchor the room so you don't need the other pieces to be too heavy. They should be a good size and scale to "hold" their side of the room. If you love the shearling then get fur skin rugs and drape them over the chairs. They are also en trend and easier to update later when they become worn or you tire of the look. You can get them at any price point. Conversely, the more light and neutral you go with everything you have to balance it against a lighter scale dark table. It's too heavy it could throw your balance off. And you will have to make sure that you use black elsewhere in the room so your table does not feel incongruent. Love your rug choices....See MoreBeachy neutral paint color for tv room/foyer
Comments (1)I am looking for same thing I n my spare room. The room color next to it is swept away BM and we love it. Having trouble finding the right neutral too bring in beach theme accessory colors. Either too yellow or pink. Had it Down to Lambskin like the light but too much yellow, and Brandy cream a little darker than I like and a little pink. Did you find a color??...See MoreNeed help with neutral paint color for North and South facing room.
Comments (3)I would consider painting the two rooms two different shades of white, yes even though they are connected. Even if you paint both rooms the same color they are going to look like two different colors of paint anyway because of the difference in light. So why not just pick two different shades that actually look good in each space? Who knows, because of the difference in light, they might end up looking more like the same color next to each other than actually using only one color. I just painted my home in all neutrals using Farrow and Ball. (If you don't want to pay that much for the paint, you can have it color matched in Benjamin Moore.) Their neutral colors are stunning and fewer to choose from, which actually makes it easier to select a great color. They break the colors up into 6 different neutral groupings. Check it out. I swear I don't work for them. I'm simply enchanted with the colors of my home!...See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
